Pat sorry to hear about your family. You are doing the right thing and that is what you focus on. There are always going to be people who will tell you what they think which is not always the truth or what we need to hear. You could ask your husband what he did say about the surgery. To heck with the rest of them. You are doing the right thing for you, and don't let anyone else tell you what you should do, even your husband. Go have your surgery and the road to a new life!!! Pat, I completely understand about being so emotional. I was too. I cried most of the week before my surgery, cried on the way to the hospital, and was crying still when they came to take me to the surgery holding room. I was so scared and so excited at the same time. I cannot tell you what to do, but I can tell you that now I am so glad I stuck with my decision. I am 6 months out and have lost 102 lbs. I feel great! Life is getting better by the day. I hope that you recieve some peace about your decision and can feel happy for yourself. Best wishes for a safe surgery and a quick recovery.

Congratulations! Your day is coming soon. Don't worry about what people say. WLS is to better your health and they will see that soon enough. It's hard for others to understand. Stay close to your husband and give him lots of hugs. I'm sure he wants whats best for you (no matter what his sister has said). My surgery is coming up 12/17 and I too get the scary feelings but it's important to stay positive. I know God is on our side. Hopefully you can trust Him to take care of you. My prayers are with you. Cari

I almost had a setback this morning. At 9:45 am I received a call from BTC. I assumed it was to give me my surgery time for Monday--wrong! They told me although I exhibited no symptoms, my pre-op chest xray suggested I might have pneumonia! WHAT????? I have never been diagnosed with pneumonia, don't even think I have ever had bronchitis! I had until 1 PM to get a chest xray and have the report faxed to BTC! Well luckily, I was able to have the CXR and get it sent to BTC by 11:15 and it was clear! Somebody is looking out for me! I have to be at the hospital at 9:30 and surgery should be around 11:00-11:30 am. OK, now that that minor crisis is over I can go back to being scared again.
