TERESA THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT. I AM NOW 10 DAYS AWAY FROM SURGERY AND FRANKLY SCARED SOMEWHAT. MY BEST FRIEND KAREN OF 49 YEARS WILL BE WITH ME AS WILL MY BOYFRIEND ROGER. KARE HAD THE RNY-OPEN ON MAY 22, 2002 AND HAS LOST FROM 286 TO 236 AS OF NOW SO WE ARE REALLY EXCITED. I KEEP THINKING OF WHAT I WILL LOOK LIKE BY CHRISTMAS AND I GET EXCITED. LORD KNOWS I KNOW ALL OF WHAT YOU SAID IS TRUE ABOUT THE WAY WE ARE LOOKED AT AND ESPECIALLY ABOUT HOW WE SCOPE OUT TABLES INSTEAD OF BOOTHES AND LETS NOT FORGET THE AIRPLANE EXTENSIONS AND ON AND ON AND OH YES THE YOU HAVE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL FACE IF ONLY YOU COULD LOSE WEIGHT. I CAN'T WAIT . I WILL BE AT FAIRFAX HOSPITAL AUGUST 10, 2002 KARENS BIRTHDAY IS AUGUST 12 SO I TOLD HER THIS WAS HER PRESENT SINCE I BACKED OUT IN MAY. Teresa, Please don't let other people discourage you. I didn't tell any of my friends about this surgery except for my best friend and now I wish I hadn't even told her. She makes rude moments all the time and this past week-end I found out she told someone else I had this surgery. I don't think people realize the pain we suffer inside from their negative responses. All I do know is that I am a happier person from this surgery and I'm on my way down. I don't care what anyone has to say because they are not the ones who live in my shoes everyday. Keep your chin up and know that this is the best thing you could do for yourself and know one can make that decision but you.

Teresa, your friend is very much afraid that you will succeed and that is why she is being so mean. She's afraid you'll become thin and she'll be left being the fat one. It's hard to understand when our friends are not supportive. I'd explain to her that you'll be hard enough on yourself if you fail and will need her love and friendship at that point and not her, "I told you so's"! Best wishes to you and don't let friends and family discourage your. This is all about you and they can all jump off a cliff. *laugh* Love and hugs!

I am so sorry your friend was less than supportive. I think that people get a little jealous sometimes when they see their friends having the courage to reach out and pursue their dreams. Never let those negative people stand in your way. I have found out in my life that everytime I am successful at something there are those willing to detract from it because they don't have the courage to even try. They are afraid and envious of your courage. I on the other hand happen to admire courageous people. So naturally I admire you!!!!!

I just want to say, I am also a pre-op. And that one of the reasons I haven't told anyone in my family of what I am planning to do. Because they to will tell me I am a failure. I have the support of my husband and everyone here at this site. I want you to think of what this will do for you and never mind of what your friends says to you. You have all of us here to support you. Don't get down, be happy for what is coming a better life.
