Sharon had her surgery on Monday. She came home last night (Thursday). She is doing really well. She had no complications whatsoever. Her most difficult challenge since being home has been getting comfortable in her bed. This evening she tried the recliner and that seems to be working rather well.
She had a pain pump implanted in her incision to help with pain while at the hospital. A note for others scheduled for this surgery....make sure the pump is working. Sharon's never worked and it wasn't discovered until the doctor came to see about discharging her. The pump was carried in a black bag. You should open the bag and check the volume after the surgery and then check to see that some has been used later. The entire family was really frustrated with this fact. The nurses expected her to be doing more and in less pain but never bothered to check the pump. With this fact considered, she did VERY, VERY well. She is a brave, courageous woman.
I expect she will be back on here posting about herself within a day or so. She is recovering really quickly.
