Maria- The reasons no long term studies are available are because these procedures have only been available for a limited time. We are the pioneers and we are the ones the studies will be done on. There is no real gene therapy solutions that are being currently found and no solution that will be available widely to the public for obesity for probably at least 10 years, so we have to work with what we have got now. And these surgeries are it. But really, I know I can not live my life this obese any more. My heart is becoming so enlarged from this weight and my organs are so fatty. There is a studyof 11,000 patients and their complications etc. on asbs.com under the rationale section. Go take a look at it. Best Wishes, Robin
