Amber M.
My name is Amber, and I live up here in Northern California. My genetics + upbringing have done me no justice. My family is composed of larger people, and my dad eats junk like there's no tomorrow. I've gone through phases where I've been fit. I did track for two years in High School, started to do running on my own, joined several gyms, but it just never seems to make a difference. I've also tried the fad diets like Atkins, South Beach, and just good 'ol fashioned healthy eating.
I've slowly gained more and more weight and I've now reached the top of the scale for myself. I went to the doctor last week (9/13/07 -- seems like SO MUCH LONGER) when he suggested the surgery to me. So, in the last week I've just been researching like a crazy person. I've decided that I want this surgery, and cannot wait to change my life forever.
Right now I'm in the process of acquainting myself with the Hospital (Shasta Regional Medical Center), and figuring out what the heck I need to do!
I'm currently a student at CSU, Chico and am hoping to have this surgery right after the 1st of the year during our winter break so that I can have time to heal and cope with the change.
Any and all words of advice/wisdom/encouragement or your own success stories are greatly appreciated.
