Hello friends,

I have lost 55 pounds!  I am very happy still with my progress.  I am working out about 4 times a week and I am eating regularly about 3 times a day.  I get my water in and still take my vitamins.  I have gone to twice a day with my vitamins to make sure I am covering everything.

I did get a call from my surgeons office that I had a B1 deficiency.  B1 ain't nothin to play around with so I immediately got supplements and started taking them right away.  I told all of my friends that had wls, MAKE SURE TO STAY ON TOP OF YOUR BLOODWORK and take your vitamins.  For my vitamins, I take B12 drops, 2 B1 tablets a day, 2 citracals a day, Biotin for hair/nails, 1 Iron pill, 2 multi-vitamins, 1 colace and a benefiber.

I still do not feel hunger a lot of times but made the mistake last Monday of not eating for about 12 hours and when i ate, I was very ill, I just didnt feel good at all.  I got too busy at work and couldn't break to eat.  Never again, no matter how hectic my day is, I will stop to eat and I will make sure to get my liquids in.

I am coming up on my 4 month anniversary on April 8, 2007--Easter Sunday and will post my monthly progress at that time.  I just wanted to drop in and post my status now.

I went shopping on Sunday with my sister and her in-laws.  It was due to her mother-in-law's birthday request that I felt "obligated" to go shop with them at the family and friends sale at JCPENNEY.  So me, being the consummate clothes whore that I am, agreed to go. Well, I closed the place down.  I ended up with 21 pieces of clothing and my bill was $282.  I felt very, very, very good though, because I got some really nice things, and I must say that I have done well with not shopping recently and so I deserved the splurge.  Of course, my sister's in laws have their grubby paws on my stuff, waiting for them to be too big for me.  But I got news for them, they ain't gettin' it cuz they ain't got it!! (famous movie line).  I digress.  Well, I figure a lot of the shirts will last me through the summer, I bought them in large and since I still have these big "jugs", I dont see that size in me changing.

I bought mostly size 12 pants and 2 pairs of 14 pants.  The 14's fit me well but will be too big in a little bit, like probably in a week so I may take them back.  I didnt buy too many 14s because I still have some 16s that I wear.  Lo and behold, when I got home and tried all that stuff on, I should have mostly gotten 12's.  Oh well, such as life, I may return them, I may not.  I then looked at an order I placed online from my other fave store-Chadwicks.  I have decided that I'm sending all that stuff back once I get it.  I got great deals on pants there too, roughly about $15 a pair for good work pants, but they are all size 12.  I have too many 12's now so as soon as that comes, its going back.  I already popped the tags off of the 12's and taking them to cleaners tomorrow.  I will start wearing them this week and will probably need to just go ahead and part with the 16's that are lurking around taking up closet space.

I now have in my closet:  1 row of pants, 1 row of shirts and a 3rd row of shirts and dresses.  I can now fit everything in my closet, with the exception of about 20 pairs of shoes that I store in my son's linen closet in the bathroom.  I have 3 dressers in my closet with underclothes, tshirts, workout clothes, nightclothes, etc so when I say everything I need is in my closet, everything I need is in my closet.  I still have some pieces in my son's closet that I will probably not wear, need to get rid of that stuff so I will officially be confined back to my very own closet.

I have gotten rid of most of my larger sized clothes.  My sister took a bunch to her co-workers---shout out to her co-workers!! Hey ya'll!! and I gave a lot of clothes to my ex-sister in law and she was quite happy.  My friend at work got a lot of my things and my nieces "other" God mother who I have always given stuff to-she was able keep some and pass some of the stuff onto someone else too.  So I was able to clothe a small army of people and I am so happy about that, don't want that stuff to go to waste and I know people have thought about me and given me nice things, so I like to bless others when I have something that I can no longer use.

I've said this before about the size 16's but now I'm saying, once I get out of the 12's, Ima be in trouble.  Cuz really, truly, I only have 3 pairs of size 10 pants.  I have not been smaller than a 10 in many years and I didnt save any of that stuff--it would have been out of style anyway.  I did go through a box of stuff that my sister and niece gave me last summer (when I knew I was having WLS), and found a lot of size 12 pants/jeans, there are some 9s in there too but I have sent those to the cleaners and they will last me for some time, providing I stay in the 12's for a minute.  I feel pretty good, I was wearing size 18 pants and 1X or XL shirts and now I am wearing size 12 pants and Large shirts.

Ok, this is getting long.  But, I have 3 months left until we go to Disney and 4 months left until our cruise.  I am soooo excited, need a break from work, need a vacation so badly with my family.   My son is really excited, we watched the Disney DVD and he couldnt stop screaming and acting a fool.  I hope he is still as excited when we get there cuz that would make me very happy for him to really enjoy it.

Food:  I have found more food choices for me, I love babyback ribs from Chilis, monterrey chicken from chilis, kung pao chicken from pei wei, chicken salad kits (from walmart), and baked lays.  I also snack on (sometimes) plain graham crackers.  I can only eat 2 sheets before I get tired of them.  I am still drinking my achievone protein drinks for breakfast every morning or will make a protein drink with my protein powder.  I also eat sausage or bacon for breakfast.  The other morning, I was real ghetto, I ate meatballs and potato salad from my sister's mother -in-law's party this weekend.  It was quite good.  I did eat at Olive Garden last Friday for lunch, had the seafood alfredo and it was quite good.  I ate a piece of that breadstick and 1 lettuce leaf and then when my food came, my friend and I halfed the portion of the alfredo.  I ate half at the restaurant and the other half at home later that evening.  When I cook at home, I still like smothered chicken with some corn, I like to make shrimp and sausage in tomato gravy or in a gumbo base with lots of tabasco!

My mother-in-law called tonight to check on us and told us that she was cooking for Easter and to come over.  I asked her what did she want me to bring......broccoli/cheese casserole.  I have been craving this casserole with some honey-baked ham minus the honey part.  I will be so happy to bake that and have it for dinner Sunday, I cant wait.  I lubs my in-laws and miss them because we don't see them that often--even though they live in the same city, but they work and are very active in church and we do live across town so it makes it difficult to get together.  We gone sit over there and get fat full, go to sleep, wake up and eat some more and watch TV, thats our routine and we wouldn't change it for the world.  My sister said that broccoli casserole and ham is gross, and not suitable for Easter dinner but she don't know nothin'.  Ima eat my 4 ounces worth of Easter dinner and be real happy.

I'm back in school, one night a week.  I enjoy it but I have to really work hard to get all of my reading done.  I am a very good student, really committed to school so this comes easy for me.  My company is paying for school at 100% which is such a blessing, I could not afford to go to this school otherwise.  My job is a blessing!! Because its only 1 night a week, I don't feel like I miss my family too much.  I enjoy it because my husband is home with my son when I go to school so they have that "bonding" time.  Of course, when I get home at night (late), my son is still running around like its 7 o clock but thats just one of the things I have to deal with.  He is just like me and my husband, night owl and not a morning person.  I usually have to whip him to get him to go to bed.

Wow, this was a very long update , especially since I was just dropping in.  I'm gonna close now, going to bed so that i can get up in the morning, drop the kid off at daycare and get to the gym.  I will probably get to work on my paper thats due next Monday and get some reading done.

TTFN and God Bless!!

3 months post op update on 3/8/07

Mar 09, 2007

3/8/07 (really its 3/10/07 but who's counting?)

Start weight:  233.6; Current weight: 185.8; Weight lost:  47.8 pounds
Height:  5'2 Surgery date:  12/8/06

Hello all,

I am doing well.  God has truly blessed me and continues to bless.  I have lost 47 pounds and almost halfway there.  I want to get to 130.  I have about 55 pounds to go.  My BMI is 33.8 so I would not qualify for WLS.

I have been very busy so have not gotten on but I always want to update my profile at my monthly anniversary.

The only thing new, besides my clothes, is that I have scheduled my tummy tuck for September 2007.  That gives me approximately 6 months to lose at least 40 of the 55 pounds that I want to have gone.  I want to be 10-15 pounds away from goal, if not at goal (or below goal) when I have this procedure.  My breast reduction will be scheduled for sometime this year, hopefully December, but I'm not really rushing on that anymore.  To get both procedures done, I am looking at $6700 but I am so very worth it.  The doctor begs to differ but I swear my stomach has NEVER been flat.  He says it was at some point in my life- probably when I was 5 years old.  I have never seen it flat so squash what he says :)

I am gradually going through my closet and clearing out clothes.  I have not shopped much, I have a few smaller pieces but realized the other day that even my size 16 pants and jeans are too baggy--they fit around the waist but look a horrible mess everywhere else.  And..I have realized that I should wear large tops instead of XL or 1X as I have been wearing.  It is really unappealing for me (and I am sure for everyone else) to see ill-fitting clothes, so the fashion diva that I am, must get rid of the fat clothes and get some that fit.  No problem.

Emotionally, I am mourning the loss of my clothes, I am used to having a closet full (or 2) at my disposal.  I had to force myself to get rid of these clothes.  I have given 4 garbage bags away to my friend at work and more to another lady that I have shared clothes with in the past.  Both are extremely grateful and that makes me happy.  A sista loves to shop.  I can't help it and I usually have more than I need.

Well, I cleared out more clothes tonight and my sister will come get them tomorrow to get rid of them (she is much smaller than me, so she cant use them but will get them to people who can) .  I still have more to clear out but didnt feel like getting really into it, I will probably do more next week.  I am able to wear size 14 across the board- jeans, pants, dresses, the whole nine.

I went to Dr. Ferrari on Monday for my 3 month checkup.  He said all of my bloodwork looks good.  Protein, Iron, Cholestral,  but I had too much B12 in my system--told me to cut back to 2-3 times a week instead of daily.  Done!  I have not been on blood pressure meds for awhile and my blood pressure remains normal 130/78.

I had lost 45 pounds as of that visit on their scale but have lost about 2.5 more in the few days since.  That makes me very happy.  My next appointment and bloodwork will be in June 2007 at 6 months.

My son is deep into 3 years old now (it will be 2 weeks on Monday).  He is the most adorable thing I know.  Of course I would say that.  He is really smart and perceptive.  We had a birthday party for him last Saturday and everyone had a blast!  My neice turned 17, (she's one of my favorites) on March 1 and we celebrated her birthday at Benihana that same night.  We had fun.  She is mature and pretty and I am proud to be her aunt.  My daughter came down that weekend too for both celebrations.  I miss her when she is not here so it was good having her here.  She's one of my favorites!   She is 15 and taller than me now (thats not hard, nor unexpected) but she is slim and cute (she gets that from me, even though not one ounce of my blood flows thru her cute little body) but hey, I can claim it if I want to.  She's mine in my heart so thats all that matters.

My sister and I are both having tummy work done in September, 1 day apart.  She is on a mission to raise money for her deductible, can we say fish fry, chicken wings for sale, candy for sale, garage sales and everything we can sell, we will sell, cuz she is having it done come hell or high water.  I wish I could pay it for her, thats what is on my heart.  If its meant to be, that is what will happen but until then, plan B.  Sell stuff!

We have 4 months until our family trip to Disney (at a cost of over $5000) and 5 months until our cruise (at a cost less than Disney!).  Thank God for my in-laws, they really treat us "kids" well.  Thank God for bonuses too!  My company is awesome and treat us really well too.  Every employee receives a bonus every year!  That is unheard of.  We also get stock incentives every year that payout about a month or 2 after bonuses- they don't have to share the profits with us but they do and for that I am grateful!  It allows me the opportunity to do some things financially and have a little fun.

I have to send the link to my mom, she always wants to see my updates on my profile.  Hi mom!! Thanks for cheering me on always and in everything I do!  I don't ever take your love and support for granted.

I am about to go to bed now, I must work tomorrow. I will post my weekly and monthly updated charts here to see my progress.  I have lost another 12 pounds this month! YAY ME!!

God bless you and keep you!
Angela

2/26/07- My son turned 3 years old today!

Feb 27, 2007

2/27/07

Happy Birthday to my baby boy.  He turned 3 years old on 2/26/07.

God has blessed me with him and I am a much better person and so happy because of him.  My husband and I are truly blessed to have him in our lives.  We are having him a birthday party on Saturday, 3/3 so that should be fun.  And....tuition has decreased by $20.00 per week.  And.....he is potty trained, so no more pull-ups!!  I am posting his picture- he took pictures on Sunday.

On the weight front....I weigh 190.6 today with a body mass index of 34.8.  I WOULD NOT qualify for weight loss surgery if I tried today.  From 233.6 on December 8, 2006.  I have lost 43 pounds.  I have 60.6 pounds to go before reaching my goal of 130.

I also went to see a PS today to talk about getting a breat reduction and tummy tuck.  This doctors appointments were 1 year away and I happened to get an appointment at the end of last year--even before I had WLS.

The appointment was very good.  The doctor feels like he can help me by doing a breast reduction.  He also described to me how a tummy tuck would be done.  I am looking to have my breast reduction before the summer- like in April or May and then my tummy tuck before the end of the year.  I hope to be finished losing weight by May, if I continue at the rate I am going-- we'll see, I am flexible.

I got the consultation out of the way and will know more about insurance approval in a couple of weeks.  I have been wanting a breast reduction for a number of years so this will be good and a large "weight" off of my soon- to- be smaller shoulders.  I am also excited about the tummy tuck but I want to lose the rest of the weight before I venture there, which is why I figure December of this year would be a good time.

My friend who had WLS has lost 120 pounds and looks really good. My sister is looking into having a tummy tuck and my sister in law is looking into getting a lap band.  I will support them in whatever they decide they want to do.   I am still happy with my surgery and feel like it will only get better.

Well, I will close for now, got lots to do.

Thanks for reading and supporting me and God Bless!

Feb 11, 2007

Greetings,

Todays Weight:  196.6; BMI 35.8; Start Weight 233.6 on 12/8/06
Total Lost: 37 pounds; Height:  5'2

I am 2 months post op as of 2/8/07.  But, as of today, I am at 196.6 so I have lost 37 pounds.  I'll take it.

I have posted new pictures here, I attended a Valentines Ball on Friday, 2/9/07 and took pictures then.

The ball was quite nice.  My friend at work belongs to a card club and they had a ball in remembrance of one of their club members who died in March 2006.  Everyone was dressed up in their formal gowns and the men in tuxedos.  The ball was raising money for Relay for Life that we will all participate in this year in April.  The lady died of cancer and her club members want to keep her memory alive.  I will be there for the Relay for Life too.

There was a band and the band was really good.  We danced all night.  My husband didnt go, he babysat our son but my other friend and I went.  I was her date.  She commented on how good of a date I was (we didnt sit down at all), we danced all night.  We had such a good time.  She told me that she would go on another date with me.  She is funny!

I have been eating well and getting my liquids in.  My friend at work is losing weight because we are still sharing most of our meals.  I find that when I eat something, I just get tired of it once I have eaten enough and don't touch it again.  I also found my limit on sugar.  I drank a protein drink from Walmart that had 20 grams of sugar in it.  My body does not like that much sugar and I feel a little bad afterwards.  I don't throw up or sweat or anything like that but it is a very mild feeling that I don't like to experience so thats all I need to help me stay away from such things.  The drink had natural sugars in it but those kinds of sugars do not agree with me.

I have not worked out in the last 2 weeks.  Very bad, I know.  I will get it together and get back into the saddle.  I don't want to be flabby abby, thats for sure.  I am still wearing 16's, some 14's and the formal dress that I wore the other day was a size 12.  The weight is gradually coming off.

My son, husband and I went to the park yesterday and I was able to fit on the playground equipment again.  This was a lot of fun and really meaningful for me because I want to be able to run and play with my son without getting tired or not being able to fit into stuff.  We played with the T-ball set that he got for Christmas and we ran and chased each other.  I got good exercise on Friday night as well as yesterday.  We had a good day outside and went to the movies afterwards.  They are a lot of fun to be with.

Well, I must go now because I am watching Extreme Makeover, where the Marine from NY saved a couple of people and needed a safer home to live in.  This man blessed others with his selfless act and is being rewarded by making over their family home. Thanks for visiting my page and God Bless.

Good morning,

This girl here has hit ONEderland!!!!  I weighed in at 198.6 this morning and my clothes (my small clothes) are falling off of me!  I am wearing clothes now that I wore when I lost 50 pounds back in 2003 but they are already baggy and falling off.  I am losing a lot of inches this time around, I do believe.  Either way, I’ll take it.  This is a total loss of 35 pounds from 233.6 to 198.6 today!  I am 5’2 with a very small frame, so I still have a ways to go but I’m on my way. Praise God!
