The Band Is Now Working

It was not until 16 days after the replacement that I received my second fill that the band came to life. During the replacement I received 5cc in the band but I had very little restriction. Next I received 3cc and was so tight I could not even keep water down. Back to the Dr. I went and had 1cc removed. I am tight as I cannot even eat but a few ounces at a time or it’s coming up.
I have reach the point of my 70 lb. weight loss I had reached before the replacement and now hope to continue moving forward to my goal. 10-4-08
Back To The Hospital

A call to Walgreens and the pharmacist told me to stop taking the drug and call 911 immediately. Once at the hospital I had a group of RN’s and Doctors around me. Next thing I knew I was in a room with another patient who just happen to be patient of Dr. Schwartz as well. She had surgery the day before and was having complications. I had asked if she had Lap Band installed and she said no. News to me that Dr. Schwartz does other surgeries outside of weight loss surgery even though all his commercials lead you to believe this is the only thing he does. How can he find the time to do anything else…
I am still feeling rather weird after the reaction to Cephalexin and the blotchy red spots still cover my face. My breathing and eyesight appear to be normal and my blood pressure is back to 110/67. What’s odd is I know I have had Cephalexin before and now it’s a drug I can never use again for infections. This drug was given to me to control any infections after having the port replaced. 9-04-2008
Received My New Port Today

I did ask why I was able to get this procedure done in his office while others had to have the surgery done in the hospital. It all comes down to the patient’s health. I was a great candidate health wise and why I received my new port in office. This was the first time that Dr. Schwartz had really spent some time and was very open to listening and talking. Even shared a few laughs. Scott his assistant who does all the fills at another location was on hand and was the person who stitched me up and took the time to make sure I had a smooth flat scar once I heal.In all I am very happy with the outcome even though this has slowed my march to lose my weight. I feel that maybe it was a blessing to have had this leak as I received Lap Bands new style of port that will not even be noticeable at all. 9-02-2008

I had my second fill 10 days early due to not filling any restriction. It was if I could eat and eat and eat. Now I am afraid I am over filled. I can’t drink water without feeling that I am going to throw up. I may need to call the doctor and have again some fluid removed. Last night was the worst as I felt such a restriction that my throat felt as if I had something stuck. I know today is going to be trouble for me as the temperature in Tucson is to be 109 degrees and I am going to be outside in the heat and not be able to drink enough liquids. 6-19-2008
My First Fill

I had my first fill on Friday and that was an adventure. I received 7cc's of which I could not swallow. I am shocked as to how tight I felt. I thought I was going to drown standing up in the doctor’s office. I was told to drink water as I received the fill and then told to wait in the front office to see if any problems were to develop. After about 5 minutes and I was to drink more water I looked at the receptionist and told her I could not drink anymore water and in fact I need to have some saline removed. A few minutes later I was back into a patient room where Scott Lopez removed 2cc’s, this made a huge difference. I have broken the 50 pound loss barrier and I am at 51 pounds after this weekend after my fill. 6-01-08
