Six months out

May 08, 2008

Yesterday was my six month surgiversary.  What a wild ride this has been.  I'm down 69.5 pounds.  I feel a lot better, have a lot less pain and there's so much more that I can do.  I still can't eat all the foods my nut. wants me to, but hey, I'll get there someday.

They say after six months your weight loss slows.  Well, my weight loss has been much slower than what is typical.  I'm hoping that it will just continue at this pace for another six months and I can make my goal of being at goal weight before my one year surgiversary.

Things I've learned since my surgery:

*I have to take care of myself.  Nobody can do it for me.
*Speak about my feelings, don't stuff them.  I used to stuff them with food, and I can't do that now.  Eating a lot of food (what's a lot of food for a very small pouch, anyway) HURTS.  I haven't done it because of feelings, but I've done it because of not being mindful.  So, soothing with food is out, and speaking about what's troubling me is IN.
*Be mindful of what I'm doing.  Whether that's eating, working out, or whatever.  Be in the moment and ENJOY.

I'm hoping that I will see a normal-sized person in the mirror someday soon, and will be out of the obese range in the next couple of weeks.

Life is so good!

Two Months In

So, two months later, almost 30 pounds lighter, things are definitely looking up.  There are things I can do now I couldn't do two months ago.  I'm all healed from the surgery and have gone back to work.  I have a much better attitude and am so grateful for this surgery.  It has made such a difference in my life.  Life is SO good!
