Last meeting with surgeon before surgery!

Well today I went to my final appt before surgery! I am to be there at 6am! 10/12. Surgery is at 8am! I am the first one for the day. I am to plan for an overnight stay due to my sleep apnea.
The PA met with me. He really tried to talk me out of the band! I stood my ground. He said there is not a high success rate with people over 50 BMI.
He said that Dr. Schumacher has never lost a bander! He is one of the top 20 bariactric surgeons in the country!
There is no requirement for a pre-op diet. But if I want to do full liquids 2 weeks before...It couldn't hurt! So I am gonna do it!
As far as returning to work after 2 days....,they have no objection due to mmy work conditions. But I need to see how I feel after surgery and go from there. They would like to see me go back Monday.
Dr. Schumacher uses the Realize Band 10cc.
Here we go!!!! So excited! I am ready!

Hello! I am having Lap-Band surgery on 10/12/10. I am a wife and mother. I have 2 beautiful little boys who are 1 and 4. About to be 2 and 5! I am doing this for them.....for many reasons.
I am afraid of having complication from the surgery. Knowledge is power....but you never know!
I have started hitting the gym! I am up to 4 days a week! Getting use to the routine of going.
My other reasons for having the surgery is I have sleep apnea and Lumbar Spinal Stenosis. My back is sooo bad! I am tried of living with the pain! At times I can barely walk or hold my kids! They wanted to do back surgery. They wanted to do breast reduction. I figured before I did that I would try this to improve my overall health!
I chose the band because I want to do most of the work myself. Kinda like if you work to buy a car you will take better care of it VS someone buying you a car. You appreciate it more.
I do not have alot of support from my family. They think I can just fix this on my own. Well I am 3 and I have been this way all of my life! I have tried so many thinks with no success. My mother and husband are just afraid I will die as a result of the surgery.
I was told taking diet pills is just a reminder 30min before you eat that you are on a diet. It's all in your head. Well the band is a slightly larger "diet pill that is inside me all of the time. A constant reminder of my goals.
I amin love with me as I am and my looks are not my reason for the surgery. But it will be nice to shop in a normal store. I am finding it harder and harder to find clothes (tops) that fit!
Well I plan on writing alot (detailed) about my journey so I may help others!
Looking forward to getting to know all of you....as well getting to know the new me!
