First Rejection from Insurance company

Aug 12, 2009

Well as expected, my insurance carrier rejected the request for authorization.  My BMI is below 40.   This was the only reasn for the rejection so Dr.'s nurse says when we appeal we have a good chance that they will reverse the decision.  I think my doctor's staff jumped the gun when they sent in the request.  They didn't have all of my medical history in hand when they compiled the paperwork.  Is anyone else out there having these problems.  I've been told to retain an attorney but I don't really understand that rationale.

I'm going into the surgeon's office this week to go over next steps.  Gotta say I'm a little upset with all of this now because I would really like to get this overwith.  The holidays are fast approaching and I don't want to be in an altered state.  I know eating will be different but I'd like to be over post surgical issues by the time christmas rolls around.

I'd like to hear from anyone else that has been rejected by insurance and what measures where taken to overcome this hurdle.  Thanks.
