Well I'm 6 months and 2 weeks out from RNY surgery. I now weigh 154 pounds! I have lost 72 pounds since the day of surgery and 81 pounds from my heaviest weight. I have had no medical complications since the surgery and so far my labs are looking good. I haven't been on any blood pressure medicine since the day before surgery and now I don't need them at all. I feel great! I want to lose another 24 pounds to reach my goal weight of 130. Deciding to have WLS was one of the best decisions I have ever made. No regrets!!

I found out Friday that my surgery was approved! I am scheduled for 05-JAN-2010. What a way to start the new year!

So here is my story...
I grew up a very active child. When I got into high school, I was active in sports...volleyball, weight lifting, and off-season running. I was not overweight, just muscular. I got pregnant when I was 16 and moved in with "the father". My relationship with my parents was very rocky so I had no support system. Shortly thereafter, I found out he was cheating on me. I put on 60 pounds during that pregnancy...turning to food for comfort. This was where all the problems with food and weight began for me.
When my son was 2 months old, I got out of that destructive relationship and moved back home with my parents. I dropped the weight very quickly, pretty much through fasting and unhealthy eating and I've been yo yo'ing ever since. I used to pride myself on how quickly I could lose the weight over and over again after putting weight back on. If I only knew then what I know now!
I'm now 40 years old and to lose a pound or two takes forever. My metabolism is totally shot. I now have high blood pressure, gallstones and a fatty liver. One day my PCM (primary care manager) brought up the topic of gastric bypass surgery. After alot of thought, talking it over with my husband and researching RNY, I chose to start this journey toward weight loss surgery.
I am currently 232 pounds. I weighed 236 pounds when I had my consultation with Dr. Wallace a couple months ago. My referral for surgery is now "in process" through Tricare and hopefully will be approved by the end of this week.
I am ready to start a new life...living in a healthy body and with a healthy mind. I want to see my son and daughter marry and have children of their own. I want to grow old with my husband. I want to LIVE!
Thanks for stopping by :)
