I am a 40 yr old wife and mother, oh and grandmother. I have been heavy my whole life. I really can't remember a time when I was not "the big girl". I have always hated it. I met my husband in high school, and we then hooked up again 10 years after we graduated. He is the only man (besides my boys) in my life, that has never mentioned my weight. He has never asked me to diet, work out, or change me. When I decided to go with WLS, not only my husband, but my children and my best friend have been supportive every step of the way. The only person to have any negative comment, is my mom, and I think she is just jealous that I am doing something about my weight and she is not. I'm going to go with that and not let her attitude about the whole process affect me. I started seeing Dr. Chylasta (I always spell it wrong) in September, I felt at ease abnd comfortable with him and his team from the first time I met them. They all made me feel comfortable and for the first time, I was not embarrassed about my weight. When he told me I would have to do 6 months medically supervised weight loss, I thought, this is a bunch of shit, I want my surgery now dammit. But, since then, I have learned so many new things about me, my body, and the crap I was putting into it. I have only lost 8 pounds so far, but I worked hard for that 8 pounds and I am damn proud to have them gone. I am 5 months into this whole process, I have my 5 dr appt with my PCP on Tuesday Jan 6th, so excited about getting weighed in after Christmas!!!!! Anyways, I have been to my nutrition classes, have been meeting one on one with my nutritionist, had my sleep study and of course I have sleep apnea so I have been back for my 2nd test and they are coming out to my home next week to bring that damn machine. So, that's where I am at so far in my story. Hopefully by this time next month, I will be done with the insurance process and I can get started on getting my surgery date!
