So after I saw the nurse on April 16, she told me to get off my meds for my osteo-arthritis now and switch to Tramadol.  I went to my GP that afternoon and he said he wasn't giving me a prescription for a drug he considers to scary for ongoing use before surgery just because some nurse said so.  

I understand why the nurse wants me to stop taking my NSAID meds and it makes sense even to my GP so I stopped taking my meds. My GP knows.  So now I'm on nothing.  it's been 12 days and I can honestly say that... I HURT!  

I've been to 3 different pharmacists this week to get their take on Tramadol.  Monday I'm going to call my GP for an appointment and give him my research findings.  I would like to talk to at least 2 more pharmacists first.   I'm hoping he will give me a prescription for 'as needed' as opposed to something like 2X a day like I was doing with my reg meds. We will see.
I don't like the idea of being in pain for the foreseeable future but what's a girl to do. Seriously?

Well they called today to book my abdominal ultra sound.  It is May 2. 

One more step forward 

I saw Vanessa the nurse this morning. Not the warmest personality but informative.  Blood work came out great, no major issues, I have to have an abdominal ultrasound, but she said everyone does, other than that no other tests to be done, no sleep apnea stuff nothing. I am apparently quite healthy with the exception of the weight.  I have to change my medication for my osteo-arthritis from meloxicam to tramadol now but otherwise....I'm good. 

They gave me my next appointment date for the Behaviorist and the Dietitian.  It is May 8.

SQUEEEEE!!!!    

Ok...so I went for 9 am....there is coin parking out front.  Just for future reference....$1.00 gets you 10 minutes. A quarter gets you two minutes....a dime gets you nothing and it doesn't give you back your dime. 

I was there long enough that I needed to refeed the meter. They have a machines that will turn bills into coin. But no debit machine from where one can get bills to feed the machine that gives coins.  Huh???  I have to go to the main hosptial to find that.  Apparently it isn't far....yeah sure IF YOU ARE NOT MOBILITY CHALLENGED AND USE A WALKER!!!   So I go and when I get back I have to take another number because I was gone too long. GRRR.  Whatever.....6 vials of blood later I'm done. Monday is the Nurses appointment.  I will be sure to bring many coins. 


I'm also wondering how LDC is doing....she had her surgery today

I have my first appointment with the Nurse on Monday so I'm going for bloodwork on Friday morning. 

So I got the call on Friday while I was out with my mom and by the time I called them back all I got was a machine, so today I was on the phone with the clinic at 9:00 am and got someone on the first ring. THAT never happens!! 

I GOT MY APPOINTMENT BOOKED WITH THE NURSE FOR APRIL 16, 2012'!!!  I'm sooooo excited!!!  The journey has really started!!!  

OMG...... I was out shopping with my mother yesterday (Friday March 30) and when I got home at 3:15 pm my husband said the Bariatric Clinic called about an appointment.  I immediately called and left a message that I was returning their call.  Their message said they were only open until 4 pm  but I carried the phone in my hand until after 4 pm.....they never called. I will call them when they open on Monday morning.  I have no idea why they would call, my understanding is that I would get a letter in the mail to start the appointment process.  I'm very curious as to what they were calling about!!!! Excited too!!
