Hello, My name is Sheila, and I am a 40 year old mother of 3. I have been overweight most of my adult life, starting shortly after my first pregnancy, during that pregnancy I didn't gain much weight due to contracting mono in my first trimester. Which caused a low birth weight and several birth defects, I had no idea mono was so dangerous, but to a pregnant woman it is dangerous in their first tri-mester. My baby sister had brought it home from school and we had no idea. My daughter was born with brain damage on both hemispheres, blind in her right eye and deaf in her right ear, it was apparent there was more damage to one side, and I am so thankful she wasn't totally blind. She is 23 now and I love her so dearly. She is a miracle baby. <3 My other 2 children were born healthy.
My weight started going up right after I had my first baby. I could eat again and it was incredible, I had been sick my entire pregnancy and vomiting constantly. And of course it caught up to be very quickly. And I have been fighting the battle ever since. I have lost weight many times and regained it again every time.
I was diagnosed 1993 with pseudo tumor cerebri and had a LP shunt put in. I had the shunt replaced a year later because they tend to get clogged up. That surgery was the worse imaginable, I couldn't get out of bed for a month because of a low pressure headache. Imagine a hangover with a sinus infection for a month, that is how it felt.
Last year my blood pressure started going up, They put me on 2 kinds of bp meds and it seems to be holding steady. I am starting to lose some sight in my right eye and it is scaring the hell out of me. I have to do something and I just can't diet and fail again, I swear it takes such a toll on you going up and down. At least it has for me with the PTC.
