Saw the Nutritionist, Jackie, in Augusta today. She was very helpful in answering my questions. Gave me a food diary to keep track of my foods. Will discuss at next appt. Also gave me the new GBP manual with lists of foods, vitamins, etc. that I will be following.

Happy Halloween! I had my Psych Eval today! LOL Saw Dr. Holcomb in Waterville. The test was long and repeatitous. My consultation with her was about 15 - 20 minutes long, but the test took hours. She asked alot of questions and in the end thought I was a good canidate for the surgery. The paperwork will take 3 weeks to get to Dr. Trieu. *sigh

Went to my first of 3 Nutrition Consultations. Saw Carol in Waterville. She did not have all the new GBP program info yet, and could not answer many of my questions. Will see Jackie in Augusta for next 2 appts. She is in charge of the GBP program and manual and should be able to answer my questions.

My first consultation with Dr. Trieu! I was impressed by his down to earth nature. He looks like he's in high school but he assured us that he's 32! LOL He was very nice and answered all my questions and believes that the Gastric Bypass is the best procedure for me. So with his blessing, I will start the surgery process.... We also talked with Lori, the Clinical Coordinator/RN. She's wonderful and very helpful. Gave us lots of info and encouragement!
Initial Weigh-In: 241.2
Ideal Weight Range: 108-132
My Goal: 117 or whatever weight feels healthy.

Attended the first Gastric Bypass Support Group Meeting. There were 3 of us present wanting the surgery. Dr. Trieu will start seeing patients tomorrow and I will be one of them!

Finished attending the last two of the required 3 support group meetings. All 3 were Lap-Band group meetings, so I am looking forward to the beginning of the Gastric Bypass Meetings which will start on 10/9.

Attended first Support Group Meeting in Augusta. Since Dr. Trieu has just joined MGMC as a Gastric Bypass Surgeon there are no current Gastric Bypass Support Groups, so this group is a Lap-Band Support Group. The meeting was informational but obviously geared to the Lap-Band process.

Attended the required Informational Seminar for Weight Loss Surgery in Augusta. There were several speakers and I thought it was very interesting. They gave out information on both the Lap-Band and Gastric Bypass procedures. Have decided to persue the Gastric Bypass Surgery as suggested by my PCP.

Appointment with PCP to discuss Bariatric Surgery. He thought I was a good canidate and met the basic criteria. He referred me to Augusta Surgical Associates in Augusta, ME.
