Ok so as of today i am down to 289 pounds. That is 24 since i started my liquid diet and 14 since i had surgery on the 24th. I cant wait for my next stage for food, i dont know how much more of this liquid diet i can take. I go to my first post op appt this friday the 10th so I will blog more then.

Ok so i am very sorry i didnt post before surgery, but it seemed as if my time for getting ready was slowing coming to an end. So now that i am back at home i am posting

Surgery went awesome! I kind of compare it to a C section, well atleast in my experience, I had the first surgery of the morning, was in the pre op room at 6:30 and in the post op room at 11:00. I had an epidural which was a total suprise to me, but was awesome in the pain dept.. I walked within 5 hours of the operation ( the nurses couldnt believe how well i was doing, but im sure they say that to everyone) The whole experience was pretty easy. I was pleasantly suprised. The worst part of the whole situation was the tube that was in my nose......PURE torture, but other than that i would do the whole procedure over again if needed to. I have a feeling though that because i had such a smooth transaction the last few days that getting my protein and water might be a hassle, i dont want to jinx myself though. i I almost forgot another crappy part of my situation is my dr wants me to use heparin for the next 10 days, twice a day...thats a blood thinner that i have to inject myself with, kinda burns and I am not too find of needles. I will wrire more later i need to go lay down for the night. Thank you all  for your kind words and prayers.  If anyone has questions please let me know and i will answer any of your questions.

So all my pre ops went well yesterday. After seeing the nutritionist, they have decided to put me on the liquid diet till my surgery. Protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and a healthy dinner is what i have to look forward to for the next 27 days. I am gettin more and more excited and very nervous at the same time. I know i can do this though, i have no doubts. I have one question? Did any of you have your husband stay the night with you the night of surgery? My husband offered but i dont think it usually happens. Well I have to get ready for work and will blog more later.

so i called my insurance today and i am approved! i got approved in a matter of hours...i am so excited. My doctors scheduler is out today but should be back tomorrow, so hopefully i will schedule my preop appts. and surgery date then. i will post more soon hopefully

ok so i get a missed call from my doctors office today, I have a message from the office saying that they had heard from their insurance approval dept and they said i was approved till the end of July. She wanted me to call her back so we could get the ball rolling. I tried calling numerous times, left 2 messages and no call back. I am a little worried like maybe it was a mistake and thats why she didnt bother calling me back, because seriously it only took them an hour or so to get an approval from my insurance. Doesnt that seem a little too good to be true??? It was too late to call the doctors office or my insurance company after work today so i get to be tortured all night thinking about it. I hope i get some time tomorrow to call and see whats up.keep your fingers crossed for me!

so i called to get the status on my pre auth today and low and behold it isnt even to my insurance company yet. the person working on my referral at virgnina mason has been off the past week and wont be back until tomorrow. oh the joy of waiting. I guess i will just have to be more patient, but everyday it takes them to send the info is one more day i will have to wait for my surgery if i am approved. i will write more when i hear more.

So i went to see Dr Moonka today for the first time since not getting my bypass back in October. The appointment only took about a half an hour and he told me everything looked good....BUT..... I have gained 19 pounds in  6 months. He said last time that i didnt have to lose the weight but i wasnt allowed to gain weight also. So this time he wants me to do a bariatric supplement diet to lose 10 pounds before surgery. He wanted to schedule me a date today but we decided to wait on my insurance first. Hopefully i am approved...I am going to try to lose the 10 pounds by myself so i dont have to do the diet. Wish me luck and i will let you all know what the insurance says. if anyone wants to talk or has questions just let me know.

Ok so heres the story. I was scheduled for surgery back in October of 2008. I call the night before to get my surgery time, right before that my husband was asking if they had taken a pregnancy test. I asked them and they said NO.  I wasnt worried there was no way i was going to be pregnant. Chris and I run to the store to pick up a pregnancy test get home to take it and WHA-LA im preggers. Ok so i know a bunch of you are thinking well why would you let this happen.....so here let me explain. i have 3 children 13, 8 and now 20 months, my kids are all 6 years apart. My husband and i have NEVER used protection and i just never get pregnant, so getting pregnant a year after having a baby was not even close to being on my mind, not even feesable. We had wanted another child so i took it as a positive. In November i lost the baby. This was my very first miscarriage ever! It was so hard on us and I cried for a long time. I took it as a sign not to get the surgery.

Today almost 6 months later i have finally came to the conclusion that i am more that ever ready to have the surgery! I have thought about it and talked about it with Chris and we think that it is now time. I dont know why things happened the way they did but i do think that everything happens for a reason. I called my insurance company the other day and they said I am in the clear to go back to my surgeon and have him send in the paperwork again for approval. I dont know what i will have to do over, But i AM going to do it this time. I am so ready. I am hoping that my approval is as easy as the last time, im just hoping that they still want to work it with me and make this happen. everyone pray for me. Ill keep in touch

So last month i went to my drs. everything went fine, they sent my info from the dr, downstairs to their referral specialists so they could try to get my insurance to cover it.  I call my insurance about 3 weeks later to find out that they have never received anything from virginia mason. I call up virginia mason and they tell me it takes time. I wait a week and call my insurance again...low and behold still nothing from VM. I call VM and they tell me i should talk to the referral dept. As i talk to these people they come to tell me that they havent received anything from my Dr 2 floors up. Once again i am calling my Dr, she looks in the computer and says she sees everything she had sent, anyone can look it up the in the system...so i get a little upset and wonder how come your referral dept cant see it. I hang up so upset i cant deal with it for the rest of the day. maybe its a sign that i shouldnt be getting this operation. Later that day i miss a phone call from VM saying that they were sorry and there was a glitch in their system, so my info never got downstairs to the people to send it to my insurance. They also stated that they would work on it pronto that day. I think that was the 12th. Today is the 21st and i just got my approval today over the phone. I cried to hard, i couldnt believe the guy told me " yes mrs campbell we have received the info and it has been approved" I am so happy i cant believe it. So i had to schedule it out a bit, cause i cant  take a month leave when its back to school time ( the life of retail) So we scheduled my ultrasound, nutritionist, pre op and anestheologist appointment all on the 5th of September and my surgery is scheduled for the 10th. Its official this is really gonna happen.

So i didnt want to do it, but i called today to get the status of everything. My insurance hasnt received anything from the surgeons office. I know it has only been 6 days so i wont let it get to me. I also found out that my insurance has no set time to give the approval, they can take as little or as much time as they like. POO! The WLS coordinator at Dr. Moonkas office should be calling me back soon. Hope all of you are well, and hope your journey goes smooth
