Pureed Food - WHOOPEE !

Oct 01, 2008

Today is pureed day, today is pureed day !  YAHOO !!!!!

Has it really been 10 days ?

Sep 27, 2008

I can't believe it has been 10 days since my surgery.  I am starting to feel stronger bit by bit.
Did my first walk of the day yesterday morning and added a block to the walk.  Then, last night walked to Blockbuster video (quite a hike) and picked up three movies.  College Road trip, Deception and Tortured.  Will let you know if they are any good.
Anyway, turns out, that was a bit too far to walk, but I made it.
Can't wait till I can move to the pureed stage of my diet.....yummy.  Sick of milk based stuff now, but we do what we gotta do.
Darrin and Michelle and Lauren came to visit today.  That was nice, they are so sweet. (sorry Darrin, but you are sweet).

First Wow

Sep 25, 2008

I guess I can consider this my first  WOW moment.  I  am  now  down  20 lbs !
13 lbs before surgery, came home up 4 lbs because of all of the IV fluid, now down 10 lbs since last Saturday.
The "nursing staff" has officially switched over as of today.  Mom and Dad left and Fraser's Mom is now here to help out.
I have to say, Mom and Dad, don't know what I would have done without you, you guys are absolutely the BEST and I love you (yes, very much Dad).
I am walking twice a day and managing to keep quite a good pace.  Will  be upping that to three times a day in the next couple of days or so.
Managing to get in more of the protein that I am supposed to have and also more liquid.
Have not slept great the last couple of nights, hopefully tonight will be better.

WOOHOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sep 22, 2008

Koodoos to Dr. Huynh first off, for being such a fabulous surgeon and so supportive of Fraser and my parents while they were at the hospital.
Next, let's talk about my favorite number 5.
I kept my stuffed star with me from Fraser which had 5 points.
I arrived at the hospital to check in on floor # 5.
We travelled up on elevator # 5.
I was staying on floor number 5.
The surgeon had 5 appendages on each hand (whew)
I was taken into operating room # 5.
I have (you guessed it) 5 incisions from the surgery.
So, how could it have been anything but good.
I was supposed to be in the hospital till Saturday, but Dr. Huynh came in Friday night and said I was doing so well, I could go home later that night if I wanted.  You didn't have to ask me twice.  I was home by 9 pm.
Since I have been home, my "nurses" Mom and Fraser have been taking great care of me.  Mom has tried to keep me on a schedule for eating, but it is so hard to eat when you are not hungry.  I am supposed to have almost 1 cup 3 times a day and 1/3 cup 3 times per day.  It just seems like too much right now, but we are working on it.
I have been going for a walk once a day up the street and back and have spent lots of time moving around the house and around the backyard.
Only taking the percacet once in the afternoon and once at bedtime.  Mostly just so I can rest.  Pain is not bad, just gets uncomfortable some times.
Bowels are moving well, so all is good.
Thank you once again for all the prayers, emails, messages, phone calls, cards and flowers.  I am truly blessed.
So, now I have my wings and am learning how to fly.

HERE I GO !!!!!!

Sep 16, 2008

Off to the hospital for the BIG DAY !  See everyone on the slimmer side of life !
Hugs

1 more sleep

Sep 16, 2008

Okay, so I am off to bed now. 12 hours to go.......Whew.
Thanks to everyone for their phone calls, emails and facebook messages today.  Wow - I could have spent the entire day reading, answering and responding.  It was awesome !
With so much support, how can everything be anything but great tomorrow.
Hugs to everyone.

2 days - Okedoke

Sep 15, 2008

So, it's not like I am going to turn back now, so why worry about it right ?  Must have been all of the hugs I received that made me feel better today. Thanks to:  Fraser, Mom, James, Michelle, Dawne Marie and Darrin
So off to bed now, two more sleeps.

3 Days - Ummmmm, AUGH !!!!!!!!!

Sep 14, 2008

Okay, so now it is coming down to the crunch and I am starting to get emotional.  The reality of the situation is truly starting to set in.  No, I am not changing my mind.  I guess the jitters are normal at this point.   I just couldn't figure out whether to scream or cry today....so I did both.  Poor Fraser.  Up untill now, I have been pretty stable, but today I lost it.  I am not afraid of LIFE after surgery, it is NO LIFE after surgery that I am now afraid of.  I know I am healthy and I will be fine, but it is still really scary.
I think I need a hug.
Okay, venting today....I will try and get a sense of humor back for tomorrow.

4 Days - WHAAAAATTTTT ?????

Sep 13, 2008

So there we are in the car this morning and Fraser all of a sudden says...."4 more sleeps !"  All of a sudden I thought....."WHAAAAATTTTT?  Oh my gosh, 4 more sleeps, ONLY 4 more sleeps."
Have I mentioned lately that I love my husband....probably not here anyway....well, I do !  Don't know why I haven't mentioned it before, but I should have, so now I have.
PS - Migraine is gone !
MY WONDEFUL ANGEL IS CYN K.

WOOHOO - 5 Days

Sep 12, 2008

Well, went out tonight and bought all of the vitamins, protein shakes and whey powder that I need for when I get home from the hospital.....what an experience that was.  GNC wanted $57.49 for PNL Whey Gourmet....$46.99 if I spent $9.99 on a GNC Gold Member card - YAHOO.....so I walked out and bought it at Walmart for $26.99.....now I was not very good at math (ok Cathy, I was lousy at math and still am), but I am pretty sure that I got a better deal at Walmart !  ha ha ha.  Sure pays to shop around.
Chewable or liquid adult vitamins, B12 and Calcium citrate were NOT each to find...but once again, Walmart worked.  Got everything I needed from good ol' Wally World !
BTW - Migraine is back today.......AUGH !!!!!!!!!!!!
