Feeling Great! And 3 pounds to Onederland!

Aug 30, 2010

I'm down 42 pounds and feeling like a new person.  I'm so thankful for my RNY!  It has been hard adjusting to the new "lifestyle" but now that I'm 10 weeks out I'm doing much better.  The new normal seems just that: normal.  I'm figuring out how to cook for others including something that I can eat.  I'm learning those foods that I can get at restaurants that work for me with low sugar and lower calories. Sugar doesn't seem to bother me, but I only eat it in minute amounts as I just don't want to go to all this trouble to feel good and then wreck it all.  Sugar does make me feel terrible and I just won't eat it.  Bread doesn't interest me at all either, except for the cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster!   The one thing I wish I could have is an iced down Sprite!  But i just don't want to get that started either.  I normally love water with lemon, but since the surgery I don't care for it much.  That leaves Crystal light which I drink often.  I've also tried diet lemonade from Chick-fil-a and a diet strawberry limeade from Sonic.  However, I usually order a water and cup of ice at Sonic and mix in my Crystal Light.

Yesterday, I traveled to meet my daughter and help her with her new apartment.  She wanted to go to Chuy's for lunch(to die for tex mex).  I order a small cup of Tortilla Soup and I did eat a few chips and salsa.  I also had a tast of the creamy jalapeno ranch dip.  Well, I don't know what caused it, but I did have my first dumping episode!  My stomach hurt so bad, but once I threw up I felt fine.  I also had diarrhea an hour or so later.  I know, TMI!  But, it was a good reminder that I need to be more careful when I eat and not get too carried away with the conversation and overeat.

On a lighter note, I am now able to get into a size 16.  Still a little tight, but I can get it on!  Also wearing an  XL in Shirts and skirts.  It is amazing what shopping in the regular misses department can do for a woman's confidence, not to mention what it can do for the pocketbook.  I'm walking at least 3 miles each day and am about to start P90x.  I feel super!  People are definitely noticing the weight loss now, especially when they see my sagging pants!  It is a great feeling. :)

I love my life!
