minor set back......

Hello OH,
I haven't posted in a minute here but here is a quick update about what is going on in my WLS journey, I hope this can bring you up to speed.  All comments, questions, concerns are welcome.  Here we go.....
Last week I went to go see my Primary care physician and learned I had gained more weight.  After that appointment, I went on with the rest of my day and thinking of a plan to lose some weight before WLS.  I make it to work that afternoon to get a call from Dr. Bonnor's office WLS program coordinator with the bad news of Dr. Bonnor spoke to my Primary after my visit with them and with the information she provided to him he made the decision to cancel my surgery date!!  Needless to say I was disappointed, hurt, sad, upset, angry, etc.  I was given the opportunity to see him the next day in his office to further discuss his decision.  I went to go see Dr. Bonnor as planned.  He explained his decision stating that since I have started their program for WLS I had gained 40lbs!!  He said that he would not safely be able to do my surgery with such a weight gain.  He said the object of his program was to have me begin to lose weight prior to surgery to be ready for the lifestyle change.  Not wait 2 weeks prior to surgery to do anything about weight loss.  I totally missed the concept of the program amd was so dissappointed in myself.  I felt at a loss but in all honesty I did it to myself!  I left his office with a new attitude and new focus to change myself mentally and physically.  I was no longer mad or anything like that just became determined.  Since his office visit, I have drastically cut back on my calorie intake (it was making me feel sick to eat like that anyway) .  I still have the fast food but I know to order less than half of what I used to eat....if I was going to have that or better yet, order what they usually dont put on the menu...like the side salads, fruit cups, etc.  It helps me with the urge to buy at those places.  I was non ompliant with my prescrition meds and have gotten back on track with that as well.   I sought help from a BH counselor, just to be able to talk to someone with an unbiased opinion about what is going on with me has been proven therapeutic as well.  The only thing left now is to incorporate more exercise for myself.  I plan to start walking very soon, I want to purchase exercise equipment of my own versus joining a gym.  Still contemplating that.  In the meantime, I plan to walk the parking garage at my job as a form or daily exercise and off days walk at the mall or a park with the kids  .  I have prayed, and pep talked myself and I am taking one day at a time......pray for me OH!  Take care until next time.
Dee
