So here I am looking in the mirror 34 years old, and not much has changed. I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. My BMI is between 38-40.
I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful children. So, I would like to be able to keep up with them. My husband is 6 foot and weighs 175-180, so he does not get "it" nor will he ever get "it". He is most supportive though and we have a very good relationship. He is still male and we all know men are visual, so he is not opposed to the surgery either.
I have been researching and doing my homework about WLS and thanks to a wonderful friend, I have learned all about the DS and have decided it is the only choice for me. When I first decided I needed a life-long tool to assist me in getting to a healthy weight I called a friend who had WLS (I thought she had a lap-band). She proceeded to tell me all about the procedure and then direct me to the surgeon she utilized.
I took the opportunity to go to the support group meeting prior to attending Dr. Anthone's seminar. I think I got as much information from those in the room as I did from the seminar. Both of which solidified my decision to have the DS.
Now, I am working on insurance approval. I am working through the 6 month diet program required by Highmark BCBS. And when that time is up, it would give me a surgery date for a birthday present so it can't be all bad.
