One Year Later

Jan 31, 2014

Wow, it has been a year since my surgery!  To give you a background my high weight was 273 when I started my weight lost program.  I lost 35 pounds before my surgery and 90 pounds since.  I am officially at 147.8!  I wear the same size clothes that I wore in high school.  I am so excited!

For those of you who are thinking about having this surgery here are my thoughts.  For me this was the best decision of my life! My health was first and foremost as to why I wanted the surgery.   I was pre diabetic and pre hypertension before the surgery.  Now, I have normal test results and my blood work is normal.

I am happy, full of energy and love living life again.  I exercise when I can and still track what I eat.  I love shopping for clothes, shoes and all the accessories.  I feel good about myself and am more outgoing.  My husband and sons are proud of me.  They say I have become “girlish” now that I have lost my weight.

My advice is this – you have to make the decision for what is right for you.  Your experience will be different from others and yet the same.  You have to be willing to make this a lifelong change to be successful.  For me, I feel now is more of a struggle to stay on track.  I need to be stricter than before because I can eat pretty much anything.  I have yet to eat pasta, rice and bread but it is because I chose not to not because I can’t.  I am averaging around 1100-1200 calories per day.  Iwil post pictures next week.

I am forever grateful for Dr. Choban and the entire bariatric staff at Mt. Carmel West.

I wish you the best on your weight loss journey!  God Bless!
