No restriction since last fill

Jan 24, 2010

Hi all,
Just giving an update. I went for another fill almost 2 weeks ago now. I was feeling some restriction before I went for this last fill. I only got .5 cc's, but now I feel like I have nothing! I'm hungry and almost ravenous when I do eat. I'm starting a workout plan tomorrow, so I hope that doesn't make me feel even more hungry, uggg. I plan to call the Dr. tomorrow and schedule ANOTHER fill.

It's been a while!!!

Dec 13, 2009

Hi everyone! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanikah (spelling???), Happy Kwanza, Happy Holidays!!! I havn't been on in a while, been really busy!! I have had three fills, currently at 7 cc's. I'm really close to my sweet spot, I think one more fill and I will be there! I've lost 14 lbs. since my last post, YEAH!!! IT FEELS GREAT! My clothes are loose and I can really start to see it in my face. I'm really not excecising right now :(. I'm sure if I was, it would come off a little faster, so I need to get on that!

I would love to hear from you, so give me a shout:)

Second Fill

Aug 13, 2009

I had my second fill today. It was such a breeze compared to my first one!!!! I havn't lost anymore, staying right around 238-239. I talked with a friend last night about being my gym buddy. She has a memebership at the YMCA, so thinking about joining and then the whole family can go to. So, now I have 5 cc's in my 9 cc band. Hoping to find my sweet spot soon!!!

Aug 09, 2009

For some reason it is not formated correctly. But if you look at my photos, you can see this pic in it's appropriate format, this shows my weight loss and what is developing into my hour glass figure, still a long ways to go though!!!

First fill on July 20

Aug 09, 2009

Well, my first fill was an expreience, to say the least! I drove myself to the office which is about an hour away from my home. I was extremely nervous and only had a protien shake that morning. The nurse came into the room and had me lay on the table. She was feeling around for my port and I told her that if she was having trouble finding it, I could stand up, as my port is very easy to feel when I'm standing. So, she said I could stand. I put a chair behind me because I have fainted before from needels. It's a good thing I did!!! She put in the needle, found the port and put in 3 cc's. I heard a swish sound and felt a tightening go up my throat. She said that was normal. I started to feel very dizzy and sat down. I told her I needed a drink and next thing I know, I'm waking up to smelling salts!!! That's right, I FAINTED!!! The most embarrasing part was that my bladder and bowels released while I was out!!! I was MORTIFIED!!!! And by myself!!! They let me clean up and put on some hospital gowns. The office is right beside an Urgent Care facility, so they put me in a wheel chair and took me there. The nurse thought I had a siezure. So.....the Urgent Care facility called 911. That's right, 911, then I got a ride to GBMC hospital in Baltimore. Yep, I sure did, lol. There I had a CAT scan and everything was normal. Thank god. The dr said I had a vagel reaction, which I've had before, and with the lack of food, standing up for the fill and my anxiety, I fainted. My bladder and bowels releasing was typical from when you faint apparently. The sucky part about the whole thing was that I didn't even have any restriction. After all that, I was at least hoping for some restriction, lol.

So, anyway, I havn't let that stop me from scheduling for another fill. I know this was my body's response to the needle, nothing with the band. It just sucks!!! I have my next fill this Thursday, Aug. 13. I am not going to let myself get in a tizzy because honestly, it really was harmless. Now I know what to expect, I will eat first and I will lye down for my fills from this point forward. My lesson learned, you can count on that one, lol. So right now, I'm sticking at right around 238.

On a positive note, I bought three new shirts today in 1X, not 2X or 3X. That felt good!!!

5 days post-op

Jun 06, 2009

Well, I'm 5 days post-op and feeling great! I went into surgery at 249 and I am now at 241, so 8 lbs. since Tuesady. I know it won't continue to drop that fast, but I'm loving it while it is!!! :) I really have bounced back very quickly, it's almost as if I'm waiting for the shoe to drop in my recovery. I only took my pain meds the first day and sometimes at night just to make sure I'm comfortable, but I don't think I really needed it. My port sight is more tender and I can't really sleep on that side too much. I'm most restricted in the morning and I'm lucky if I can get down a 1/2 a cup of milk. I have struggeled a little bit mentally with thinking I want to eat, but my body is not hungry. I made the mistake of making a meatloaf last night for my family for dinner. IT SMELLED SO GOOD cooking. I did take a small bite, chewed it up and then spit it out. I know that is the last thing we are supposed to do, but it fixed my mental thought and after I did it I felt horribly guilty. I really don't want to do anything to jeopardize my band, so that is something I won't be doing again!!! Has anyone else done that?? I can't be the only one can I??? Anyway, my energy level is where it was before, I was actually doing some laundry my second day post-op, no lifting, but bending down to pick up the clothes off the floor actually helped relieve some of the gas build up. I think I will be taking my boys, age 9 and 7, to a covered bridge today to frollic in the water while I read and catch some rays.  I'm so glad I have my band and so grateful that I had such a quick and painless recoverey! I will post some new pics soon, probably in about 2 weeks to see if there is a difference. My pics I already have up are how I looked right before surgery. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the start of your summer!! Talk to ya soon:)

I got a date!!!

Apr 18, 2009

I have been on a roller coaster the past few weeks. I was debating on the sleeve, but have opted for the Realize Band, my insurance doesn't cover the sleeve, but I just think the band has more research and history and the sleeve is still so new that research is just now coming out, so the band it is!!! I am scheduled for June 2. I'm nervous and excited at the same time and going thru the "last supper" syndrome, wanting to make sure I hit all the foods I want to before surgery, lol. The count down begins.

What do I do?

Apr 06, 2009

Ok, so Dr. Steele is going out on maternity leave, so I got bumped over to Dr. Schweitzer. I really like him. He suggested I consider the sleeve, but I don't know much about it....He said it has a higher success rate and you loose more weight then with the band. His office will be calling me in the next 2 days with a surgery date for sometime in early May. Can anyone offer some info or insight or share stories about the sleeve?

Thanks for stopping by!
