Laura, I just wanted to congratulate you on the amount of weight that you have lost. You are doing an amazing job with your tool. Please realize that you know what you have to do to remove the weight and to stay on the right track. Knowledge is power and you have the power to overcome the carb demons. I will be praying for your continued success. Best wishes to you as you continue on your journey.

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.**Hugs**

Well, I am 24 days out from surgery. I lost 39 pounds the first 2 weeks, but don't know how much more. I have an open wound with 2 tunnels in it; pretty gross but a nurse comes twice a day to pack it. I am not supposed to be driving but have to take my son to school in the morning. My mom has been ill and was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. We thought she had a stroke. She was SO confused and acting weird. WOW. They are still doing testing on her. I am having trouble getting in my protein just because I am not hungry. My nutritionist had me eating ground meat 2 weeks after surgery and now I am eating well cooked veggies. Sunday, I don't know if I ate too much or didn't chew too well, but I was uncomfortable for a couple hours, then vomited. So, back to cottage cheese and protein shakes. But, today I had some turkey and i was fine. I find myself watching the food channel. I ENJOY watching people eat now!! Even though I can't! I especially enjoy watching shows with hot peppers on them and I don't usually like hot things. But look out, when I can have them, I will be at Don Pablos eating Tex-Mex!! Good luck to all of you in your journey; it is so worth it. Even though I had a slight complication, I can still breathe and walk (I couldn't even breathe prior to surgery when walking slowly!) and my clothes are just hanging on me! I can't wait to weigh myself!!

Well, I am having kind of a down day. I KNOW that this was worth it; I mean I am 10 days out from surgery and have not even had to use an inhaler since!!! I can breathe and walk. I am never out of breath. It is unreal. My nightgowns that were tight around my arms before surgery are now 3 inches loose on each side!! Plus, they just hang on me. I don't know how much I lost, but I know I lost SOMETHING! BUT...I think if I knew how much pain there would have been, I don't think I would have gone through with it. Don't get me wrong, the pain is MUCH MUCH BETTER than a week ago!! But I thought I was having a LAP!! Today, my incision has started draining. Doc's office told me this was a "fat necrosis", that the fat in my belly is just melting away and has nowhere to go so comes out of my incision. My visiting aunt (an RN) has me wearing a maxipad on my belly (cheaper than dressings and doesn't leak onto my clothes!!!) So, that was this morning and it has not done it since. It is really disgusting. One good thing about today, I tried some chicken. OH MAN< IT WAS THE BEST CHICKEN I THINK I HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME!!!! My nutritionist is not as picky as to schedules as some of the other ones seem to be. Good luck to all the preops and God Bless !!!

Hey, y'all!! I ended up having to have open RNY versus LAP because I have a big liver; not enlarged; just big. It is a hereditary thing, apparently. LOTS of pain initially (they had me on a morphine pump AND Fentanyl 150 mg!!) but I have lost some weight, I can wipe my butt now and pre surgery, could barely reach it!!! So, it gets better as the days go on!! Thanks for my Angel, Mary M, for keeping everyone up to date and calling me in the hospital. Also, thanks to everyone for all the prayers!! I will update as I can sit better!!

Angel report!!! I've talked to Laura a couple of times over the last 2 days. She's doing well and is hoping to get released today!! She ended up with an open RNY rather than the lap that she hoped for. Please take a moment to congralulate her and give her your words of encouragement! God bless! Mary
