Everything Is Making Me Sick

December 5, 2005 I have been sick all weekend. Everything is making me sick. I am scheduled to have another scope Thursday December 8, 2005. Maybe this time will be the charm.
Diabetes Pills Down From 5 To Only 2

November 29, 2005 I have to go see my PCP today. He changes my diabetic meds. I was once on 5 pills a day for diabetes, now only 2. He is very happy with my progress.

November 26, 2005 I have started walking 6 laps around my building each day which is supposed to be a mile. I am hoping this will help with the weight loss.
Looking Forward To Being With Family Today

November 24, 2005 I am looking forward to being with my family today and enjoying Thanksgiving. I tried to eat but my pouch would not let me. I finally ended up drinking some hot tea and later had some sweet potatoes.
My Stoma Almost Closed

November 17,2005 I arrive at the hospital at 6:30 am for the scope. Dr. Oldham is waiting and explains the procedure to me . Afterwards I am given sedationand I wake up at 7:30 and they tell me I can go home. I am back at home 2 hours after I arrive. That was so easy.The doctor said my stoma had almost closed and that was the reason for my sickness after eating.
1 Month Check-Up

November 15, 2005 I am going for the 1 month check-up today. I weighed and had lost 18 pounds. Everone thinks that is a good number except for me, it seems everyone is losing much faster than me. I talked with the assistant about getting sick and she seems to think I have a sticture and sets me an appointment for a scope
Drain Comes Out Today

November 8, 2005 I am having the drain removed today, but I am not looking forward to the extraction. When I finally get to the office the nurse practitioner just pulled it out. What a relief. I felt 90% better with that sucker out of there. What a relief!
Have To Leave Drain In Another Week

November 1, 2005 Hoping all this time that I finally get to get the darn drian out, Dr. Oldham decides to pull the tube out a little and let it continue to drain another week. UGH....I was so hoping, praying but I guess it could be worse. I am now able to eat applesauce, sf pudding, and soft mushy items.
My Surgery ~ Day Six

October 24,2005 I stayed in the hospital a couple days for observation but this time I was given my own pain pump.Wish I could take this home with me. I have been meeting alot of bariatric patients while walking the hallway and it is so good to meet others who are going through this also. Dr. Oldham tells me I can go home the next day but must still keep my drain until my visit with him on November 1,2005.
My Surgery ~ Day Five

October 23,2005 I am not feeling well today. I've been laying around taking it easy but still experiencing alot of pain and a burning sensation around the tube. At 2:00 a.m. I wake up in pain and when I check bandages I notice they are stained with a yellow tinge unlike before.My husband calls the hospital to talk to someone at bariatrics.They tell me to come straight to the hospital. I am readmitted. I have some pheunmonia in my left lung and am dehydrated as well. I was also given a test to check for leaks. You have to drink this awful tasting liquid over and over for xrays. I also had to have breathing treatments and antibotics.
