Well, I am new to OH. I have spent the last hour looking around the site and trying to figure things out. I have done quite a bit of my research on this very informative site. It was recommended to me by Mass General Hospital Weight Center. This is where I will be having Open RNY on November 30th, performed by Dr. Sheldon Randall.
I have contemplated this surgery for over 3 years. I am a 55 year old grandmother of 2 beautiful babies, Aaron 18 months and Hannah 4 weeks. I have been married for 35 years to my highschool sweetheart.
I have been overweight since childhood and have lived through the staring, sneers, and jokes. What finally made up my mind was watching my mother deteriorate year after year with Diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholestrol. She too was mobidly obese. She passed 2 years ago.
I kept thinking it was too late for me to consider this operation, but then it hit me. It's never too late. If I don't do it, I won't be able to enjoy my granchildren and my quality of life will become much like my mother suffered. I have all the same diseases as her already.
There is too much world waiting out there for me to enjoy. So onward and upward I will go, with the grace of God. I look forward to meeting many new friends on this site. I know I can use the support and knowledge everyone has to share!
