Well....

Jun 21, 2008

Welll, it's discouraging. I know it's the economy but I've been waiting for years to have WLS.  So far my Passion Party career isn't taking off. Not even a little poof of smoke.

Hopefully I'll be able to have my surgery by Christmas!

Working for the money to get my WLS!!

May 31, 2008

Well, since I can't work a REGULAR job, I'm doing what I can and I've decided on PASSION PARTIES!! WOOHOO!!

My husband is like.....what??!!??  Well, he's singing a different tune since I've *cough* experiemented some items on him

I have GOT to get my WLS, I'm facing heart surgery (weight loss won't change this fact!) and want to be in the best health I can be otherwise.

I've tried some other things and they didn't pan out but I'm hoping this does!

Anyway, if my friends are checking out my profile here then click on  www.mypassionatetoys.com and browse my site!  (Put in code FRIENDS for 15% off!)
AREN'T I SHAMELESS?? LOL!!  Say, I can put into my profile a ticker showing how much money I'm making towards my WLS, right??

Ok, I'm getting desparate to get my WLS and this is my last stand.  For now. Never give up. Ugh.

Meanwhile, on my own I've managed to take off around 20lbs but struggling to keep it off.  I have another sweet grandbaby and it's hard to keep up with him, I'm not able to do with him like I could with my oldest grandson and I'm missing out big time!  My 30th high school reunion is coming up and I sure don't want to show up 100lbs (at least) over what I was in high school. This is BAD, my last shot to show up looking half way decent, the next reunion I'll be old and toothless and so will everyone else so it won't matter then!! LOL!! Gotta keep my spirits up, right?? RIGHT??

This surgery seems like the provebial (sp??) carrot in front of my fat little nose. I can see it but can't seem to reach it.......OUCH!!  You'd think that I'd lose weight chasing it

My Mom

Jun 19, 2007

The story of my mom's stomach surgery from early 70's, a form of VSG where a large part of the stomach is removed.

For years if someone had severe stomach problems with ulcers or cancer (and other problems) they would have large portions of their stomachs removed. A side effect that doctors noticed was weight loss.  Recently the doctors started using VSG as a stand alone WLS based on years of patients losing weight.

My mom was one of the ulcer patients, having suffered for years and twice the ulcers perforated and caused holes in her stomach, releasing acid into her body cavity.  First time she was 'cleaned up' and stomach sewed back up.  Second time they decided to removed most of her stomach and clipped a nerve (common for ulcer surgeries back then) so there wouldn't be as much acid produced.  Mom weighed over 200lbs at the time of surgery.  Afterwards she went down to 135lbs.  She's had high cholesterol and the doctor way back then said for her to keep below 140lb to keep her cholestrol down.  She's stayed below that mark and is healthy as far as blood labs are concerned and other than cancer (not WLS related) and a few usual age related problems (cataracts for one) she's healthy and can out do me any day of the week!

Two lifestyle changes she's had to make: don't eat close to bedtime and keep Tums around, she has indigestion sometimes.  But then she pretty much eats whatever she wants and has kept McDonald's in business for quite a few years now!!   But not for Big Macs but their sausage/biscuits in the morning, coffee with 2 creams 2 sugars (I better remember this part or else she's beat  me up ).

So tired of being fat!

Mar 03, 2007

You know, this waiting on getting the money is really tiring and I'm so ready to lose weight.  I'm not getting younger, 50 is just around the corner and I'd love to be goal weight by then.  Then I'll look into money to have EVERYTHING tightened up!  Or else just invest in a lot of duct tape and superglue!

Still waiting!!

Jan 07, 2007

I'm still waiting on my loan to go through so I can get my surgery! But I'm having thoughts, not second thoughts, but wondering about a problem that I have.  It's acid reflux and although I've read on here that many many have had their GERD 'cured' with the band I still have worries.  My mom and her mom had ulcers and they never got better.  My mother had over 60% of her stomach removed to take care of the ulcers that would not heal along with her severe reflux.  A side effect was weight loss.  She lost around 60 or so pounds and kept it off.  But she didn't know about having to take calcium in citrate form and now she has a widow's hump.  I'm sure that her age and smoking had something to do with it also but not being able to process calcium correctly didn't help either.

So I'm calling a specialist Monday to get an appt. and have my stomach checked out.  I want the upper GI and my gallbladder checked out too.  I just recently found out that Nexium causes the body to not be able to absorb calcium correctly.  Another side effect is anemia, which I am.  I stay tired!

As soon as I get all of this straightened out hopefully I'll have my money and on my way to get a lapband!  I'm already working on losing weight and have lost about 7lbs, of course it bounces with fluid retention that most women have!  I have good support here on OH and some very good and kind friends!!
