Hello everyone,
Well went to my 6 month follow up. Down to 155.5 pounds~down 76 pounds. Not too bad!!!! Everything looked according to the MD. BMI is 29 woo-hoo. He said I could eat anything at this stage but I am choosing not too. Dietician said I should be eating 2 cups of food at a meal. NO WAY!!! I only eat 1 cup at a sitting if that much.

6 month surgiversary

6 months ago I began this incredible journey. Hoping to get healthy. Today I am down 75 pounds weighing in at 156.5 goal is 125. I have really stepped up the pace with exercising and not cheating with food. Yes I said cheating Unfortunately I thought I was one of those people that could eat sugar I did not have dumping just felt a little sluggish and not normal after eating it. Well the other day I felt like this after eating sugar and checked my blood sugar and it was 184 very high for me so now I know that I truly can't eat sugar. Believe it or not but I was thrilled that was one of the reasons I choose the RNY was the dumping. Well I will post again later hopefully with more results and P.S. I see surgeon on Friday 9-14-07.

Hi, I know I just posted yesterday but I was so excited this morning. I got on the scales and am down 72 pounds. I haven't lost more than 1/2 pound at a time in a month so I could  not contain my excitement. My sister has her preop appt. today so I am praying everything goes great for her as she has had many set backs. . Oh and I wanted to share that I am now doing fitday.com and love it.  P.S. BMI is 30 today. Robin

Hi Everyone,

It's been awhile since I have posted. I am down 70 pounds at 5 months 18 days. I have been a slow loser but feel great so that's ok..... Really hoping to hit 75 pounds by my 6 month appt with MD. My sister finally has a date Sept 11, 2007 way to go sis and guess what she is already down by around 94 pounds. She had been through alot beginning Jan. 12th. Amazing that we began this journey together in January. What a year it has been. I have met some amazing women  that have had the same struggle. The support group is great I just need to go more. My exercise has been terrible!!! When I do exercise I do great biking 12 - 15 miles walking 2-5 miles. Weight lifting has been nonexistant. I need to get my butt in gear. I am starting to get wrinkles where I am losing Maybe surgery is something I want to think about.  We'll see I still would like to lose another 36 more pounds. Food is still a huge problem but not quite so bad. Chili, meatloaf, cottage cheese, cheese, healthy choice bean and ham, sf chocolate pudding, jello, bean soup, turkey hot dogs, and now salad with egg and cheese. These are my staples that I supplement with protein drinks. I really need to get new photos on am wearing anywhere from a 10 to a 14. 14's are beginning to look sloppy. Medium shirts fit great. I actually look cute in low rise jeans. Did I say CUTE yes I did at 44 my husband said I look like I did (almost) when he met me. Not quite I only weighed about 110-110 pounds back then. Oh well I will take the compliment. Anyway I feel great even if a little tired lately.
Well good luck to everyone out there. Robin

It's been awhile since I posted. But it has been a great not quite 4 months out. I am down 62 pounds. I have went from a size 24 to a loose 14 in pants and a 2x  to a medium in shirts.  I went shopping with another wls post op on Saturday and we were discussing a few wow moments. I have to say I have had 2. One I was sitting and noticed that I had crossed my legs and I was comfortable. WOW!!! The 2nd I was going into work Friday and my shadow was on the wall and I looked behind me to see who it was, but it was me.  I looked almost thin! WOW!! I have embraced exercise and have learned that I will need to do this on an almost daily basis, but hey not a bad idea anyway. This week I have not went to the gym or lifted weights instead my husband and I have walked 5 miles 2 times and biked 20 miles on 1 day, today we will walk another 5 miles. I would like to start a program of aerobics of some sort 3 times a week and weights 3 times a week with 1 day off. I have moments that I am a little disappointed in surgery because I can eat chocolate (only small bite sized bars) and I really had hoped I wouldn't be able to. and I can eat chips without dumping.   BUT I have learned that both are in very small amounts and guess what THIS SURGERY IS NOT A MIRACLE I STILL HAVE TO HAVE SOME WILLPOWER!!! So I have made the choice to not eat those little chocolates anymore unless I buy the sugarfree kind and I am not buying potato chips to have in the house.... This works for me. But what a great tool this surgery is!!!! I still can't eat much over 1/2 to 1 cup at one time. I do have a lot of trouble with meat though. Have a tough time getting my protein in. I have taken to drinking 1 protein drink every day and this helps. I still struggle trying to get my fluids in but I do get it in (barely). Well I will try to update sooner next time.

5 weeks post op

Apr 14, 2007

Hi  Everyone,   It's been a busy few weeks. I am down 39 pounds and the DR. says I am losing too fast. I have had a hard week almost everything I eat, drink comes back up all day. So I am dehydrated. I have to go in on Monday and have EGD with Stricture stretching. DR. say I will feel much better. I am so tired all the time. Very different for me as I am an active person. I did start my exercise at the gym went for 1st personal trainer session on Tuesday and he was pretty easy on me then went for pool session and he was grueling. But it felt great. I actually could keep up. I am in the wonderlands at 192.5 as of today. Only 72.5 - 82.5 to go I can't make up my mind for my goal. For the 1st time yesterday I noticed that when I walked my arms weren't going out away from my body. They were actually hanging beside my body whoo-hoo!!! Well wish me luck on Monday and hope I can keep fluids & soft foods down afterward. Hey sis congrats on the 35 pound weight loss!!! Keep it up!!

4/2/07 3 weeks postop

Apr 01, 2007

3 weeks have gone by since surgery and amazingly a total of 27 1/2 pounds gone. The amazing part is I don't feel like I am dieting since I am not at all hungry. I do eat about 3 times a day but no more than 1/2 cup if that at 1 time. Today I can have pureed foods, now that makes me happy. I went to my first support group last week and  met some very nice people and will be going back.

Well, I have found it to be a difficult week. The liquid diet is getting real old!!! I am not hungry though, not at all, just very thristy and not liking a lot of the protein drinks I have been given. Still have staples and drain tube in ~ with some pain still lingering at site. And still some pain on left side and left back. Have had problems with bowel movements but some Milk of Mag took care of that although I thought I would throw up from it!!! Not Pleasant.....  70 degrees out today got out and walked for about 20 minutes with the little dogs. If nice tommorrow plan on going to the park. Daytime I always feel real good but by 9 pm feel pain and tired. Friday I finally get to see the surgeon can't wait. Thanks everyone for checking in on me it has helped boost my spirits!!!
