Checking In! How's it GOING?

Oct 20, 2021

Hey, it's been a month since my last blog!  July 3, 2021 was my 8 year Surgery Anniversary! I am definitely not at my lowest wls weight....Nor am I at my start weight!

Is anyone else dealing with menopause and thyroid issues! I was at a steady maintenance pace before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Question, is this common after wls? I sometimes feel defeated when the scale doesn't move....I am thinking about getting a personal trainer and revisiting the nutritionists for help!

Many days I feel so tired and exhausted to the point that I don't feel like exercising. My carb craving have been OUT OF CONTROL! ????????! However, I walk a lot on my job and I do meet 10,000 step and above goal. So, I do get some movement. Most of my stress eating is stress related!

Just checking in....let me know how things are going for YOU!!

5 Year Surgery Anniversary!

Jul 05, 2018

I celebrated my 5yr Surgery Anniversary on July 3rd! I am so grateful for my "Tool!" I have managed my weight well! This process has taught me so much about myself. I have a great regimen that I am following that works for me. I am following a keto low carb lifestyle! At the end of the day you have to find out what works best for you. Nothing works but putting in the work! I exercise 3 to 4 days a week per 30-45 minutes. I enjoy Zumba, Kick boxing, strength training and Boot Camp Power Circuit. Remember to follow the plan and stay active!

Warmly,

Hello OH Family!

I am happy to say that I am maintaining my weight loss, but it is definitely a STRUGGLE! I am out 16 months and I have reached my goal of 130! I am so grateful for my TOOL! I realize now that I am further out that my life style changes are for the best, I feel so much better! I am willing to continue this life journey of living that healthy life! God gave me a second chance. I refuse to go back to the land of unhealthy FLUFFYVILLE!  I just want to say to those who want to give up hang in there! Remember that you're worth this lifestlye of healthy living! You can do it.....always remember the basics and know that this is only a TOOL. Be smart in meal preparations as the holiday approches! We have to be proactive and stay on course! I would have the surgery over again if I had to! I have no REGRETS! I will be forever grateful for this life journey of healthy living! Keep It Moving! Remember YOU were made for this! You can do it! Don't throw in the TOWEL! The BEST Has COME!

"Happy Happy Happy Happy"

Apr 27, 2014

Hello OH Family! I am sooooo HAPPY! I thank God everyday for my TOOL! I am having an amazing journey! My WLS is a life changing ordeal! This is not a quick fix. This is a lifestyle journey! I have no regrets.....I would do it again! I am quickly approaching a year. I will celebrate my one year WLS anniversary on July 3rd! As I stated this is a tool, I have to work hard daily to keep the momentum going. I choose to follow my plan. I take all of my supplements and I drink my proteins shakes as well as eat protein. I drink all of my water, finally able to drink required amount and more! For those of you who are approaching this journey please know that it is important to follow program guidelines. Why go through the process and not work it to the best of your ability. If you fall off the wagon get back up! Don't fall prey to old habits. Remember this is a TOOL not a quick fix! You still have to work hard to maintain it. I am excited to say that I am four pounds away from my new goal! I am considered a light weight. Before surgery I weighed 205, I'm 5 feet 0 inches tall. I currently weigh 134. My new goal is 130. I have lost a total of 71 pounds thus far!  I am so grateful for a second chance of being healthy! I no longer take three HB pressure pills. I only take one and the dosage is low. I know longer have sleep apnea, I don't have diabetes. My skin is clear, I feel so GOOD! I am "Happy Happy Happy Happy!"

So Grateful!

Sep 12, 2013

It's been a while since I've posted. I am 10 weeks out from WLS (Gastric Bypass). I have lost 40 lbs! I started at 200 lbs day of surgery. I am 5 ft 0 inches! I now  weigh 160 lbs. ! I am considered a light weight. I had many co-mobidites. My goal weight is 125. I am 35 lbs away from goal!!!  I am so grateful for my tool. I started out taking five medications. Three of the medications were for high blood pressure one was for Acid Reflux and I was taking a medication for restless leg syndrome. I was diagnosed with borderline diabetes and that was my push to have WLS per my doctors recommendation due to my medical history. I also had a diagnosis of sleep apnea.  I am now happy to say that I am only taking one medication for my high blood pressure and that's it, other than my required  vitamins! I no longer have sleep apnea. My doctor said when I loose another 20 lbs I will be able to stop taking the medication! I feel so good, I have a lot of energy. I am starting to feel more like I did about 12 years ago when I was smaller. My weight problem became worse over the last 7 years I have no regrets, I would do it over in a heart beat! I am enjoying my retail therapy!  I am so excited about my healthy journey to better living, the best has come!!! kiss PS. If I could get my pictures to upload I would. I am having a difficult time uploading my photos HELP!

I'm Home!!!!!

Jul 08, 2013

Hello OH Family,

I am home from the hospital. My gastric bypass surgery was successful. Dr. Rose Marie Jones is my surgeon. I want to send a shout out to Dr. Jones and her team. I received the best care. I am doing well thus far. I am getting in all my required protein but I am struggling with getting in all of my water. I have my first follow up appointment on July 9 with Dr. Jones and the nutritionist. I came home on only one medication out of five........whooo! I am so excited about my new transition!

Warmly,

LaKeitha

Jul 02, 2013

Hello OH Family!

Wednesday July 3, 2013 is my surgery date! I am so excited about getting healthy! I am a little nervous but I know that I am making the best choice towards healthy living. I am so grateful for this site because I have had so many positive encouraging words. I am learning that some of my family members are not as supportive with the choice I've made. Thank you OH family for positive  encouraging words! Keep me in prayer. I will give everyone an update once I return home from the hospital!

Warmly,

LaKeitha
