Crystal Schlosser

"Dr. Schlosser is an excellent surgeon. I was pleased with her skills and her bedside manner was OK. I have heard she is very to the point. I would say very honest. She is supportive, but does acknowledge that WLS is not a cure-all, that it does take commitment and work on the part of the patient to be successful, even with the surgery. The practice Dr. Schlosser is with has an excellent before and aftercare program. Their goal is for their patients to be successful, and they will go the extra mile to see you succeed if you let them know you are struggling or call them with questions. I was very impressed to learn that they want to see you at regular intervals, even many years out. They also made it clear that if for some reason you are uninsured or under-insured and not able to pay for the visit, they still want you to come in. rnrnMy only complaint was the day of my discharge, we ended up waiting all afternoon, because she was speaking at a conference. The complaint was really not the 5:30pm appearance, but the fact that she told us she would see us \"after lunch,\" and no one knew where she was or why she was so late. We finally got the news at 4:30 that she was on her way.rnrnOne other note: I only saw her 4 times total. One pre-op consult. Before surgery, the morning of, the next morning for about 10 minutes, then at discharge. The 3 week follow-up was done completely by her nurse, Heidi, who was excellent.rnrnI believe surgical competence is most important. Dr. Schlosser definitely has competence. Her bedside manner is also good, though she doesn't waste any time on chit chat.rnrnA nice bonus of Dr. Schlosser is she does reinforce the stmas (the opening between the stmach and the small intestine) to prevent the possibility of future stretching, but rather than taking tissue from you thigh, she uses processed cadaver tissue, and has been very successful with it. I have the extra security of the reinforcement without the pain of the leg incision! Hurray!!!! "

Abbott Northwestern Hospital (COE)

"I was very satisfied with the hospital, the care, and the staff. The whole experience was excellent, and better than my experiences as a child and when I had my children and other local hospitals. For a shared room, I did not find it any noisier or less private than the private room I had when I had my children. I had a good roommate though."
