George Yarbro

"Dr. Yarbro has a very dry humour which I don't mind, but some might find not "sensitive". He is an excellent surgeon, though and I would recommend his work."

Horizon Medical Center

"The nurses at this hospital are extremely well-versed in care of bariatric patients and are very attentive and caring. This hospital is very aggressive at making the obese patient feel well-taken care of and they do a great job of it. I would definitely recommend HMC to anyone looking for WLS."

Steven Bennett

"Dr. Bennett truly cares about his patients. While many doctors will simply prescribe drugs to alleviate symptoms of problems, Dr. Bennett actually tries to fis the problem itself. He knows all of his patients by name/face and is a very wonderful man, who cares how his patients are EMOTIONALLY as well as physically. He is truly a HEALER, in my opinion. When I expressed my desire to have WLS, Dr. Bennett made it very clear that he would prefer to see me lose the weight non-surgically, however; when we tried and it became clear that I am unable to do so, he has been more than supportive in helping me to get to this point. While I would not call him "WLS friendly", I would like to point out that he truly manages the care of his patients based on the individual, rather than "normal guidelines". He is the kind of doctor that calls his patients personally to give test results, rather than having a nurse or other disinterested party do it."

Gustavo Huerta

"When I went to his seminar, I thought that Dr. Huerta seems to be a very patient man with good listening skills. When I met with him, my impression of him did not change much. He allowed me to ask a million questions, and answered them easily without seeming annoyed at my questions or acting like I was wasting his time. Dr. Huerta's office staff seem very personable. His nurse, Marcia, is very sweet and at least with me, seems to be very intent on making sure that everything is done quickly and well. She wants to make sure that nothing is left to chance. I like that. I don't really have anything that I dislike about Dr. Huerta yet. Dr. Huerta really emphasises aftercare. He insists that his patients come to his group's support group as he is sure that the entire staff (dietician, physical therapist and at least one of the surgeons in the practice) are there for the meetings. I will know more about the aftercare after my next appointment (my education day) but from what I have been told so far, it seems farily well-structured. Again, we will be going over the risks of surgery at my education day, so I will update that question later. At this time, I am rating him at about a 7.5 -- which is not bad, I will know how better to rate him after my next appointment. Definitely surgical competence is more important than bedside manner, although without the latter, it is hard to stick around and find out about the former!"
