11 1/2 years post op

Apr 20, 2018

What a crazy life we lead.  I can't believe how long it's been since I made the best health decision of my life!  I've had a couple bumps in the road, but couldn't be happier.

I maintained my weight loss for over 9 years, then got divorced, got new boyfriend, and 20-some new LB's from the changes.  I'm so excited to say that I'm now about a half pound UNDER my surgeon's goal weight for me.  It's been a struggle but so worth it!

I still take all my daily vitamins and a B12 shot twice a month, get plenty of sun to supplement my vitamin D, and am sure to keep the protein up and sugar down.  I did find the importance of D12 when mine dipped dangerously low and won't ever forget that again!

I do still have to watch the ulcer situation as I'm still prone to them and take meds regularly to avoid this.

Overall, hands down, the best life choice I've made in my almost 49 years!

1 year post op!

I can hardly believe it has been 1 year since surgery,  so much has changed in my life.  I have lost about 103 pounds, went from a size 20/22 to anywhere between either a 2/4 or a size 3.  I feel wonderful, especially since my thyroid medicine is starting to work (not WLS related).  I semi-regularly hit the gym to workout, have learned to scuba dive, have gone zip lining and rapelling, things I never would have done a year ago. I have more energy and allow my self confidence to shine through more now.

I still stay away from junk food and don't allow sugar to be a regular part of my life anymore.  My family has also benefited from my surgery, my wonderful hubby has lost just over 50 pounds and my son has gone from a size 44 pants to a loose size 40!

For any of you starting out on your journey, research all your options, all the possible side effects, your doctor and then when you think you have all the answers...do some more research.

Wow, it has been crazy!  i am now down 100 pounds, am in a normal weight range, wear between a size 2 and 4 and feel great!  My biggest gripe is that I am tired more easily now, might have something to do with getting up at 4:45 every morning!  This has been such a great gift to myself, I now scuba dive, I have zip lined, and rappeled.  I can't wait to see what the next 9 months has in store!

Well I made it, I am only overweight!  I am down almost 80 pounds, and about 52 inches smaller.  I can not believe how much better I feel, I haven't been sick since surgery, one small sinus infection is all.  I used to feel sick, tired and just plain yucky most of the time, now I feel pretty good almost all the time.  The only thing I have noticed is that I can no longer eat tuna,  makes me feel just a bit nauseaus.  Overall I feel so very blessed to have had this surgery and reclaim my life.

I am now 4 months post op and down 70 pounds and 41.75 inches overall.  I had my labs drawn a few weeks ago and my cholesterol is down from 260 to 153!!  That by itself makes my surgery even better.  I can finally see in my pictures how different I look from September,  I know my brain doesn't see it yet, so I'll just keep taking pictures.  Hopefully by the time I write next month, I will be "just" overweight and no longer obese...it's only two pounds, so I know I will make it, maybe even by next week!

I am now 3 months post op and am completely happy with my surgery.  I am down almost 60 pounds and have lost over 33 inches overall.  I started in a size 20 and now can fit into a size 10 jeans!  This has been an amazing three months, I am eating things I never thought I would, don't want things I used to crave, and am satisifed with a quarter cup of food for my meals.  My blood pressure is down to around 96/64 to 107/66,  not bad considering it used to run140/86 even with medication.

What a wonderful Thanksgiving, my family is together, I feel great and I am down almost 50 pounds and have lost 29 inches overall!
I still am amazed at what a great thing this surgery has been for me, I never imagined I could be off all medications in such a short amount of time.

This is such a cool time in my life, I weigh less than I have in longer than I can remember...I am sure it was when I was pregnant with my 16 year old!  I am done 44 pounds and 23 inches!  I feel great except for this annoying back pain I have, I think I have been overdoing it on the treadmill and need to slow down for a bit.
I am hopeful that by Christmas I can lose another 11 pounds, that would be such an awesome Christmas gift.

5 weeks out and onederland!

I can't believe it! I am five weeks out today and am finally below 200 pounds, I haven't been below 200 in over 10 years!  I can finally see the loss when I look in the mirror, still not pretty, but better.
I feel great, and am moving, a lot...I started back on weight training and am pretty surprised at what I wimp I am now!  I can really feel the difference in my stamina and strength already..good reason to keep it up, I guess.

Well, it has definitely been a great month!  I am down 28 pounds and 14.75 inches overall, I have not had any issues with eating (no foamies, vomiting, dumping, etc), the hardest thing for me is learning to eat on "schedule", I am never hungry, so I have to eat because I need to, not because I want to.  That is such a huge thing for me to say, I used to be addicted to carbs, one little chip, cookie, or cracker and I could graze all day long.
I took my dogs to the dog park yesterday and was very pleased that my back didn't hurt, I didn't get short of breath, and I still had energy when they were done. The other great thing is that my blood pressure is staying down, last I checked the other day it was 105/74, not bad considering I was on two blood pressure meds just a month ago!
