So far so good...

Dec 18, 2008

Well, I made it through the surgery and walked a little over 3 miles in the hospital from the 15th through the 17th, when I got to go home.  My husband had his surgery today and I was able to go up there and stay with him through his recovery and his first walk around the ward.  We both had Dr. Rosie Jones as our surgeon, and she is indeed a wonderful person and a very skilled surgeon.  I am still sore and I am worried about my sweetie, but I know he is in good hands.  God has been good to us. I know we have a lot of work to do, but so far it hasn't been bad.  Remembering how long to wait between calcium and multi vitamins and how many pieces my pills need to be crushed into is the most difficult thing so far other than those first two days.  I have fibromyalgia, but I was able to do the walking and I do believe that it does help.

Big day tomorrow

Dec 14, 2008

Well, tomorrow is the big day for me.  I am a little nervous now.  My husband will follow me in surgery on Thursday the 18th.  I started packing and made out a list of people for my husband to call after I come out of recovery.  It sounds like the next week or ten will be very busy.  I did not get to use the spirometer as much or as long as I would have liked, but I guess any time is better than no time.  Since I have asthma I worry about pneumonia and I worry about blood clots and leaks. I also have a toothache, which is making it a little more difficult to be calmly confident, but I know I am in God's hands and that of my surgeon.  I have confidence in both of the them.
