A Funny Thing Happened...

Jun 12, 2008

A funny thing happened on the way to the 220's.  I am now going back and forth between 230 and 232! YIKES!!!  I was going back & forth between 234-236 for days, so hopefully I will soon switch over to the 220's.  I want so much to loose the weight this summer.  Yes, I feel better, yes, I'm into a smaller bra, yes I'm getting into clothes I haven't worn for a couple of years but I want to go to the next level- the scale going down, and getting out of the Women's Dept.  Two weeks from today, June 26, I will have my 1st fill.  Maybe I will turn the corner then.  Until then, I'll keep movin' and I'll keep watching carefully what I eat and I will keep the hope, the faith and the determination that I WILL get down to under 200 pounds by Christmas.  Amen.

So long 230's!

May 31, 2008

First it was "So long 250's", then "So long 240's" and now, the first of June, I'm about to say, "So long 230's"!  What a great feeling- especially after being stuck for a couple of weeks between 234-236.  Those same 2 pounds were starting to get to me.  But now, school's out for the summer- less stress and more time to exercise.  I LOVE IT!  By the time we leave on vacation in 4 weeks, hopefully I'll be saying, "Toodleloo 220's".  230.4 lbs. this morning.  Hooray!

One Month Later

May 22, 2008

One month has gone by since my lap band surgery.  Overall, things have gone very well.  I was down 24 pounds and clothes are fitting better the next size down, but this week has been a little discouraging.  It seems I gain back two pounds, loose them, gain them back, etc.  I realized a few days ago that without any restriction, I can eat most anything!  YIKES!  My first fill will not take place until the end of June, so until then I'm going to have to do a better job making the right choices.  As a teacher, I'm excited about having a few weeks off from school (tomorrow is last day with students) - more time to exercise, de-stress and concentrate on going in the right direction weight-wise.  I may be a Chorus teacher, but these days, I'm definitely with the BAND!  Peace.

After surgery- baby steps

Apr 24, 2008

Three days since my lap band surgery and overall, things are going very well!   Got a little ahead of myself yesterday and didn't have my drinking plan in place, but I'm off to a much better start today.  One of the things I learned from someone here at OH, I think it was Becka from Band Camp, was to take a little 2 oz. "medicine" cup and use it to take those small sips.  What a difference that is making.  Already I have in 10 grams of protein, before 8 a.m. and I'm on my way to what I believe will be a great day. The little things we can learn from others can be such a blessing!
Speaking of blessings, how blessed I am!  The care I got in the hospital, my precious husband by my side, my surgeon, my friends checking up on me- all these AND to know the Peace that only comes from God.  I am excited about this next part of my journey, feelling better, living longer, doing more and enjoying it all!!!  Taking baby steps for now, preparing to "run the race" of life's journey!

All of a sudden

Apr 17, 2008

All of a sudden, I'm only 5 days away from my lap band surgery!!!  It seemed to take forever, but HOORAY, I'm almost there!  Went for Pre-op today.  Tests went well, got a lot of good info.  Thanks to a tip from a friend, I arrived early, got tests out of the way and got out of there with the whole afternoon to spare! A little nervous, and a lot excited!  If you're on the loser's bench, scoot over- I'm on the way.
