I never had gained weight until late 20s when having babies. i gained 60lbs with 1st son, lost 40, then pregnant again. This time gained 100lbs & really haven't lost it yet and i'm 56 years old...
Most lost was with NutriSystem in 1988, lost 76lbs in 5 months eating pre-packaged foods. Then started having probs with oldest child & mom died 2 years later (my mom was my last living blood relative 'cept my kids of course). Always keep my weight between 276 - 235 for next 13 years, then on 12-12-01 my youngest son died at 21 yrs of age (he looked just like my dad)... I do have my husband & his family but it's just not the same.
My life changed after that, but i am ok & became a grandmother 9 months later! Life really is a wonder...
I had both knees replaced at same time June 1998, & hip resurfacing August 2007. I work out in pool 2-3 days/wk for 45min. Current weight 273. Besides high bp, borderline cholesterol & gastric probs (from pain pills for years & weight, of course) those are my health issues. My biggest problem is that i don't think that i look that bad... i'm proportioned pretty evenly (i.e. large chest).
I've always been of the thought that you don't mess with mother nature. I can do this with eating properly , excercise & oneness of purpose. What are the hidden side effects of 10,20 even 30+ years down the road with this type of surgery? My sis-in-law had gastric bypass surgery over 4 yrs ago & she looked so un-healthy for a few years & she also needed pacemaker (not related they say).
Yesterday i ran into someone i hadn't seen for 8 months and i couln't believe how much thinner & healthier they looked, i was a bit shocked when they said gastric sleeve surgery, i had never heard of it before. She told me all about it and here i am the next day googling the surgery & found your forum. I do need the support & info that your forum seems to have. I just scheduled a seminar on surgical weight loss for 8-21-08 ( i scheduled & cancelled this same seminar 1 year ago!)
So, here i am, ready for the next big change in my life...
