Both my mom and dad are overweight, and I've battled my weight since I can remember. My mom had the Realize band done in January and has lost 74 pounds to date. She encouraged me to have weight loss surgery, as she didn't want me to suffer into my 40's like she has and develop other co-morbidities as she has. She has been amazingly supportive and is an inspiration to me. The surgeon where I live offers the lap-band, so that's what I had done. Just knowing I have this wonderful tool makes such a difference.
