4/27/12 Losing Slowly

Apr 26, 2012

Almost to the year mark and down to 177. I am able to eat everything again but smaller quantities. Still feeling good and now fitting into size 16 jeans. I haven't been in this size since 1979 when I was in high school. I have more energy and do not have joint pain. My asthma doesn't bother me anymore but I feel cold when others are not. The rest of my life has stayed the same. I encourage those who have battled their weight most of their life to give this a try. Find a good surgeon, do your research and Good Luck.

2/9/12 Almost 7 months after surgery

Feb 09, 2012

I just had my 6 month check and all is well. I am 184 pounds down from a whopping 306 pounds. My face has changed alot. I have cheek bones and I have recently noticed my collar bones.

I still see a smaller but fat person in the mirror. My hips are about 47 inches so I am sure that is a big part of it.  I will loose more inches in front and back, but my hip bones are just about to the outer edges.

I still think of myself as 284 pounds. Being in one-derland just is hard to wrap my head around. My nails are growing great with the healthier eating style. I am more active and seem to want to do more.

I have had the best 6 months than I have had in a long time. My hair is starting to come back in and I have adjusted to my short hair.

If I died tomorrow, I know that this would still have been the right thing to do for me. I love living and not just existing.

Hair is cut short 1/17/12

Jan 16, 2012

I cut my long hair after growing it out for 2 years. I was pretty broken hearted, but it looks much better. I am still shedding somewhat and look forward to it stopping.

I have been stuck at 190 pounds and just can't seem to get into that new set of numbers. I have been snacking on some cookies my daughter and hubby made. I haven't had many, but it is more than I should have. Hoping to hit the gym next week. I am worried about sustaining my weightloss because I still hate to exercise. I just have to keep working to conquer my lazy side.

Hair Loss 1/8/12

Jan 07, 2012

I have been shedding for a couple of months and my hair is very thin. I can see my scalp, but my remaining hair just hangs and I will have to get it cut. I am very sad. I have been growing it for 2 years. It was the longest I had ever had it. The good thing is I am down to 190 and hope to get into a new set of number soon. Just stopped working(Christmas help) so I plan on starting to go to the gym. and firming up. Hopefully, that will spur quicker weight loss. I am about 65 pounds from my goal.

December 9th 2011

Dec 09, 2011

Wow, I have lost 100 lbs. What a journey. Overall, it hasn't been too bad. I do have problems getting my calcium and drinking my protein drinks. I just don't have much of an appetite. I will go to the Dr. in January. I missed by appointment in October because I was at work. If my insurance would have covered a sleeve, I think I would have preferred that. I don't like that I can't get those calcium tablets down. I do love that I can do my job with ease now. You just don't know how much strain you put on your body with an additional 100 pounds. Even if you do gain it gradually. I also hate that my hair is so thin. What hair I have left is lifeless. I hope it starts to grow back soon.

Weighing 226 this morning.  Feeling great, but having trouble getting enough protein in.  I have added a 1/2 of protein drink a day and will continue to use them until I can get enough food down.  I will work up to drinking a full protein drink a day.  They were so much easier to drink when I was able to down them with a straw.  That muscle milk has some kind of gel-like beads in it.  That texture grosses me out a little.

I have been stuck on 230 pounds for several weeks.  The scale has finally started to move again.  I was getting worried.  I did weigh 230 for a long time before I had a major gain in my presurgery days,  so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.  Hopefully, I will not have another stall until 180, then 150, then 135.  I don't recall weighing less than 135.  At this rate I will not see under 200 pound before my November Birthday, so I have changed my goal to be in onederland by Christmas.

September 5 and still losing

Sep 04, 2011

I am doing much better now that I have learned that I must slow down when I eat or drink and that I can still only eat about a 1/2 cup at a time.  I am 236 lbs this morning.  I have lost a total of 69 lbs.  I have more energy and I have been working in my yard.  I still have a ways to go and still tire before I get everything I want to get done completely finished.  Looking forward to onederland.

I must say the best thing about this surgery is that I can be in the same house as my beloved chocolate and keep my hands out of it.  The craving sensation has not returned.  I still want a piece, but I can say "no" and be ok.  It does not call to me from the cupboards anymore.

July 28th 2011

Jul 28, 2011

Well, this is the first day I was sick.  I think I was constipated and food just wouldn't move along.  The last food I had was at lunch and I tried to increase my amount to get more protein and calories and I was not ready.  Yuck! I felt awful.  I took 340 grams of magnesium and got things moving again around 11pm.  I will take magnesium daily to keep my bowels moving.  I also threw up my beans and rice several times, but I feel better now.  My abdomen is sore, but hopefully that will pass soon.

First Post-Op Visit

Jul 27, 2011

I just weighed in and have lost 21 pounds in just 2 weeks and a day (July 12 was my surgery).  Yippee.  I can wear my wedding ring again and my ankles look a little thinner.  It's a start.
