Attended First Support Meeting in Dr, Greene's office.
Even though I had pre-registered, the office lobby was PACKED, they had to bring more chairs and yet people stood up! The first thing was that a young girl (now I think more like my age (33) came over and showed us a pre-surgery picture of herself @ 400 LBS. She had lost so much (165) I think, the only thing was I noticed she has lost lots of hair. Then a tall lady came which I think was size 8!! And was banded over 3 years! Other people came to give testimony, one was a lady that said she had 8 to 12 insulin (doses) a day and was now diabetes free!@ That cut my attention very much. A guy came over walking slowly and turned out that he had had the surgery 24 hours ago and seemed fine, said he is only a bit sore!

First meeting with Dr. Greene and staff as well as introduction to Nutritionist. He was impressed and according to himself honored that I had considered their facility over Hopkins, I told him I am honest, I loved to do it in Hopkins however it i s very far from me and I prefer to have the support group ( which he offers) closer to home and in Montgomery county. Plus, I told him that I trust my OBGYN %100 and he had already introduced Dr. Greene to me over two years ago(sigh!!!) imagine if I had done it then, No problem I still can be a happy camper if Insurance doesn’t bother me and I get approved and have the surgery.
My son actually goes to the same school  that Dr. Green’s daughter and OBGYN kids all go! He immediately assured me that if he sees me in school he wouldn’t show any connection out of respect for my privacy (as if I care, I wanted to tell him, honey you make me skinny, I will put a tattoo on my forehead that I have had lap band! Even though I hate tattoo)

08/31/07 I joined weight watchers today. (Should have done it long time a go to have the six month pre-op diet history but better late than never!)

09/05/07 Met with Dr. Berger as PCP, got frustrated since he was trying to push his sleep study specialist down my throat. I have to use Dr. Greene's which is Washington sleep study center dedicated to this process anyway and I have to admit I prefer a sleep study center to PCP office!)

09/06/07 Yoohoo, I am not a superstitious person but apparently the stars are working in my way!!! I got an email this week that Weight Watchers is having a program in our office! I went and signed today and am sooooo happy!

09/07/07 Went to Quest Diagnostics to do the blood work. I am happy that I was fasting despite the initial comments form nurses at the dr.s office that I don't need to be fasting! If I wasn't fasting, I couldn't have done the test. I had to pay $4 for a 15 minute parking but hey I have paid so much of these fees to get in shape this is nothing to compare!

Remember I said all stars are falling into places or whatever the saying goes? I had the first WW's appointment in our office this morning, have already lost 4.8 lbs.

09/18/07 I plan to go to our community fitness center from today(where both my kids are in preschool and after school activities) after work and exercise. Hey, maybe G-ds are really working in my way to get in shape; everything is hopefully falling into place!

First Nutritionist appointment:
I had my first appointment with Nutritionist today, i have to admit I didn't hear anything that I already wasn't aware of. I had the appointment for 3:00 pm and I wanted soooooooo soon to get there, at 2:15 our CFO emails me with multiple requests, I have say we are having a very very crazy time in our firm ( I am a database administrator in an accounting/CPA firm)For those of you who don't know what a database administrator is and I don't blame you since it is a very very boring job that I have become crazy over it and still wonder why, a DBA is someone who manages all the database (information) data and everything related to it in a company.
Anyhow, I called on my way and told her I am on my way but still got there almost 20! minutes late, all being said at the end of the meeting I even had time to listen to her personal history and her next appointment hadn't arrived yet.
I have already bought UNJURY protein powder, I have already begun drinking it every now and then instead of a meal. It is not that bad.

My father was here for the past week and half visiting form Los Angeles and taking care of kids the days they don't have school because of holidays, I miss him like crazy. It was never like this before, I missed them when they left but not like this, it s like a dose of depression seeping through me!
I had my first appointment with Dr. Bekkar, the sleep study neurologist. He seemed a wonderful man, he said he is happy I don't have high blood pressure and laughed so much when I told him that my family is about to evict me from the house because of my snoring! He already predicts I have sleep apnea. He asked me if I was a right handed or left which I answered lefty! I couldn't contain myself and asked him if there is any correlation between that and sleep pattern, he said no, they want to know because of stroke!!!

I went to do the sleep study last night. I was supposed to be there at 9:00 pm and I had to miss Grey's Anatomy my favorite show. I had heard and read so many horrible stories regarding the test and I was worried I am going to forgo sleep that night. Actually it wasn’t bad AT ALL. I had taken my book of the moment with me. The room seemed more like a very clean motel room without windows. The nurse was very nice and told me everything there is I need to know. They had dish network but none of us couldn’t find ABC channel to see Grey’s! She stuck quite a couple of wires on the back of my chest, on my head , around eyes, around mouth, up my nose (eyew ticklish!) and feet. She then encouraged me to sleep whenever I could feel like it, however I felt tired pretty soon and turned the light off. I felt waking up and going back to sleep during the night but that was more because I was extremely cold and if one single finger stuck out of blanket I had to put it in. When she came in my room I thought it is around 1:30-2:00 and asked her if it was time for trying the CPAP. She laughed and said it is close to 5:00 am and time for me to get up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So overall it wasn’t that bad, I was hoping that I might have to use CPAP, but maybe I had moderate or none Sleep Abnea that they didn’t treat me in the middle of the night with that. I forgot to mention that I have lost 2 # since last WW meeting two weeks ago. That is not too much but the mere idea that I wouldn't gain and actually lose is reassuring enough until I submit to insurance.

The only thing that I regret about last night  is not asking the nurse how much I slept during the night!!!! Then I would have compared it with DH usual banter about my snoring all the time!!!
