Today is one month since my surgery. The scale is finally starting to move after a stall for almost 2 wks. So far i've lost 31 lbs. since surgery and 46 lbs. total since 2 wks. pre-op.
I'm happy, everything is going so well with me other than i've been getting migrain headaches. I am going to call my surgeon to find out about those. I only go in for my first post op visit on Jan. 5th. I did really well with eating this holiday season. My family got together on Sat. i didn't overeat or eat the wrong things. I'm getting into jeans that i could hardly close over a month ago. Life just gets better every day. I don't think i'll ever regret having this surgery. And i'm starting to have energy.
As soon as i get my film developed i will be putting new pics on. I'll try not to wait so long to post again.

My Surgery

I actually slept pretty good the night before surgery but had to be up early to head to the hospital. I think my feelings were kind of mixed as far as glad i was there, was i nervous or not?, i'm glad i had one of my best friends with me.
I got undressed and they actually had Big gowns to put on. My friend said i was weighed in then but i don't remember that. (maybe i was nervous after all).
I was given what my friend called a happy shot...right in the butt...ouch. so now it was time to say c ya to my friend and was wheeled into i'm going to call a holding area as there were other people lined up for surgery too, we were all laying there waiting in line.
My anesthist came in, introduced himself and wheeled me away to the OR. In there i was poked more than i would of liked as he was trying to find where to put an IV. Finally my eyes got heavy and when i woke up i was out of surgery with one IV in my hand and a second one inside my arm ( an extra just in case).
I was taken to my room where i slept pretty much off and on throughout the day. I know I had the worst backache and couldn't get comfortable at all. I was given morphine which helped with most all the pain i had. I was up and walking the same day.
I was so thirsty as i couldn't have anything all day. They did give me a sponge swab in ice water to wet my mouth which really did help but i wanted to drink so bad.
Day 2 I was feeling better yet, i was walking more, and could finally have liquids. I learned to really love jello :-)
As the day went on i was getting out of bed by myself, going to the bathroom, washing up, etc.
Day 3 i was told i could go home my surgeons PA came in and took out the IV's and my drain tube which was a weird feeling when that came out but i survived it. I washed up, put on my home clothes and waited for my release papers. My surgeon Dr. Ku came to see me and told me i was doing great. Before he walked out he said,"your going to lose alot of weight".I Did more walking, more liquids, and finally i was ready to go home. I had the choice whether to walk out or take a wheelchair. I decided to walk, my nurse was right there with me holding my hand and walked me out to the car. She was great as were all my nurses.
My surgery took 3 hours as my surgeon cut away some scar tissue from gall bladder surgery i had 20 yrs. ago. He took his time so I could have this done as a lap instead of an open. I had an excellent surgeon.
The ride home wasn't too bad. I slept off and on the first few days. I didnt need any pain meds, i had barely any pain.
I'm following everything the way I was told and on my papers. Eating what i'm to eat. I haven't been nauseous at all. Everything is setting real well in me. I had a bowel movement on my own on Fri. the 5th day i was home and have been regular since.
Today i start pureed food. Everything is going great. I've lost 20 lbs. since surgery. I'm healing up well, and i'm so glad i had the surgery now. I'm starting to do more in a day, barely need a nap anymore.
I have another week and a half until i go back to work, my wonderful b/f has been with me since last friday taking great care of me. Life is good and getting better everyday. I praise God for what he has brought me to and thru. We serve an awesome God!
I wouldn't just tell anyone yes, just go have the surgery. Take your time in researching it, go to seminars before you make this decision. Thats what i did and i know i made the right decision to have this done.
Also, listen to what your body is telling you, you'll know what is too much or not enough.
Drinking so much water in a day i never thought i could do but as each day goes by i'm almost up to my total intake.
When you eat something, take your time and when your done sit or stand up for a good 15 min.
I'm on the losing side finally and i'm happy. God Bless!

Well tomorrow is the day! I've been on liquids four days now, lost more weight but boy do i get hungry at times lol....i'm about as ready as i'll ever be tho....I'm somewhat nervous but when i look ahead at the benefits of this and how good i'll feel that helps. Will post again once i'm home and settled in and on the losing side.

I had a loss of 10 lbs. surgery is on for monday at 8 am. I'm not nervous, well not yet anyway. I'm just so happy this is finally going to happen. I have an over all good feeling.

My surgery date is just about here and right now i can't say my nerves are working on me because of that....i'm worried i won't have a loss tomorrow at my weigh in at the surgeon. so far i haven't lost, i've gained. My ankles, feet, and legs are swelled everytime i go see him...i pray for a loss tomorrow and that i don't feel like a marshmallow.

I have pre-op testing scheduled for November 9th. Everything is going as scheduled so far.
