VOTE for MY TEAM!!!!!!

Mar 10, 2011

My friend and I joined a local biggest loser contest to continue our journey to a healthier life. We both had WLS (her - Oct 09 and me April 2010). Our team once weighed a total of 800 pounds and to date we have lost approximately 280 pounds which is a significant accomplishment for us.  We need the guidance of this program to help us to maintain that progress toward our weight loss goals.  Over the years, we both suffered various health problems that were related to our obesity.  Since beginning this journey toward a healthier lifestyle, our medical issues have greatly decreased and the number of medications has been reduced.  Although we have made great progress, we have reached a point where it is harder to lose weight.  We need the encouragement, support and involvement of the New Year, New You contest to provide us with the impetus to keep going without becoming discouraged.   In the end, we hope to inspire others to obtain a healthier lifestyle.  We will never give up and it is our hope that no one ever gives up on us!

Here is how you can vote. You can vote everyday and from all your devices/browsers!!  Please email/Facebook/text your friends and family as well and ask them to vote.  THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!

REAL TALK!!!

Apr 23, 2010

OK, I am 17 days out from surgery on Phase 3, pureed foods. I was so excited about making me some chicken salad (chicken, FF mayo, boiled egg in a food processor) until it happened.  WHAT? I am glad you asked. My little 19 year old niece who lives with me and is tall and thin decided she wanted Rotel dip with sausage. So why this little girl sat across from me and said "Wow, I put my foot in this, if I have to say so myself." I just looked at her. Then she said... "How did you enjoy your chicken salad?" How the heck does she think I enjoyed it while smelling sausage and looking and hearing  her enjoy a big plate of chips and Rotel. ......  I wanted to ask her how would she enjoy chewing on a shoe while I ate a big meat lovers pizza in front of her.

On the real... I want her to be herself and enjoy the foods that she can eat, but am I wrong for asking her not to eat them in front of me?

How do you handle your family eating whatever and you can't eat those things anymore? PLEASE help before I snap.

My first taste of MEAT!!

Apr 19, 2010

I survived the first two phases of my new life. Never have I regret and giving a second thought to going through with the surgery. I realized that it was more mental than physical. Never did I feel hungry, and from what friends tell me it will be a long time if ever that I will feel hungry again. While my mom was here helping to take care of me (on liquids), she also also was cooking for the other people in my house and some friends that heard about her cooking and put in their request. That was hard to watch them eat my mom famous food and not be able to partake, but I knew that one day I will, so I prayed my way through and tried to feed my great niece while everyone else ate.

Today was Day 1 on Phase III. I had a slice of FF cheese at lunch time and at dinner time I put a skinless bake chicken drumstick with some FF ranch dressing in the food processor. It stayed down... YEAHHHHHHH! I can not wait to try different ways to get the protein in without so much powder. Next couple of days will be interesting since I will be on the road taking my mom back home.  I may do more liquids then meals to ensure I get my protein in. Oh well, I will go for now. I am excited about chewing... LOL.
