Two Years Out + some!
Dec 02, 2008
Then maybe I'll start looking into Plastics. I really don't have a problem with skin, but I'd like to get a professional opinion anyway.
I gotta tell you that I have lots more cofidence in myself nowadays. The surgery was definately worth it! Don't ever question it. It's the best thing I ever did for myself. Everyday I get up and marvel that I can wear those size 16 jeans and a large shirt instead of the 3X I was wearing before!! when I do laundry, I just can't believe that those are MY shirts!

This has been the best thing I've ever done for myself. If you are questioning whether or not you should have this surgery, dig down deep and make sure you are ready to take the plunge. But I can honestly tell you that it's the best decision I've ever made.
I'm in a size 11/12 shirt and a 14/16 skirt. Down from a 22/24 in everything! My jeans have gone from a 50 waist to a 38 waist, and they're not tight! (Well, not too tight! Gotta show off the booty don't I!)
I still have about 40 pounds to go until I reach MY goal, which is 160 (my max weight for life). My doctor set a goal for 141, but I"m not sure I want to get that low. People are already asking me when I'm going to stop losing, and I'm only down to 200 pounds. I tell them that I have 40 to go and they want to know where it's going to come from!! Like I said earlier, WOW!!

I had my first foamies about a week or so ago. My sister and I went to Micky Ds for breakfast. I got a scrambled egg and a sausage patty. About an hour later, I was ready to throw up! When I did, foam. Is that weird or what???? Afterwards, I was ready to go shopping again! I don't know what it was, but I don't like it. Dang, foam!!
We went to Houston for the International Quilt Market which is open to professionals in the quilting industry. My mom owns a store. Anyway, I was able to walk more this year than in years past! Exciting! My back is still giving me fits, but after three surgeries, what did I expect? Anyway, we had a blast, got tons of inspiration and spent too much money, but a good time was had by all!

Well, I'm four weeks and 3 days out. I've still only lost 22 pounds, but I'm not getting my protein in like I should, and my fluid intake is low. I'm probably not walking like I should. I get 3 miles in, but it's not continuous like when you go for a walk. It's mostly at work around the plant.
I'm feelling better, my energy is up some, but I'm still not at full capacity. I know it'll get better. I'm really getting tired of mushy foods tho. I'll be ready for solids, and I think I'll start this weekend. It's Labor Day weekend and what a good time to start. I don't have anything planned with the family tho, but you never know.
I didn't measure when I started this odyssey so I don't know if I'm losing inches or not, but I think I am. My pants that were way too tight before the surgery are much looser on me. More so than just 20 pounds would explain. Oh well, I'm just glad that I'm losing weight. It feels good. And I can't wait to see myself smaller. I don't mind that it's going slow, because my skin will adjust easier if the loss is slower.

I'm three weeks out tomorrow and I'm down 20 pounds. My energy levels are horrible!! Dr. Dirk said I need to get more protein in early in the day. I'm trying. Therese (sister) and I went out and bought some baby food for my mushy food stage. She also is cooking chicken and ribs and putting it through the food processor for me. She's a real dear, but she is also my food Nazi! Sheesh! My mom is getting the same way!
I just want to know when you feel normal again. I don't like having no energy, mourning food and not being able to drink any water in any significant amounts. I really miss being able to tip up a bottle and drink. Guess I should have waited until the colder months to have this surgery!!
Hmmmmm.... the Gerbers Organic Apples/Bananas/Pears is pretty good! But I'm not sure I'm willing to go with the meat or veggies yet! I'll let you know!

I'm home now, and it still hurts. I tried to sleep in my bed the other night, but I couldn't. I'm still in my recliner in the living room. The effort lowered my blood pressure so much that I thought I was going to pass out. I usually sleep on my side, and I couldn't do anything like that. Anyway, I'll try again, but for now I'm trusting in my recliner. Thank goodness for pain killers. I'm doing all of my medications like I'm supposed to, even down to giving myself shots of Heparin. I can tell I'm losing fat because the fat I was doing the shots in has evaporated. I miss chips and crackers, but I did this for a reason and I'm going to stick to it.
Therese, my sister, bought me a neat new pen. It's a Sheaffer fountain pen. She won't tell me how much she paid for it, but it's probably more than $40. It's really nice. It has a rainbow finish on it. I've wanted a good fountain pen for a long time. When we were in Hobby Lobby the other day, I found some ink refills that I wanted, they are purple, but we couldn't find a pen. I guess she went online and found it.

Found out my surgery date is changed. It will be August 1st instead of July 31st. Evidently the hospital changed the doctors surgery schedule. It's Tuesdays instad of Mondays. Anyway, she said I'm still first in line for the day, and I'm sooooo excited!!
Well, my family has accepted the fact that I'm having the surgery. My mom keeps wanting to talk to me about what my needs will be afterwards. It seems a little weird to discuss this with her, since I really didn't want her to know about it to begin with! Anyway, everyone wants me to stay with my parents when I get out of the hospital but I'm not leaning in that direction. I think I'll go home. That's where I'm the most comfortable.
AAAAAAhhhhhhh!!! 13 days and counting! I'm so excited! And scared. I just can't wait until it's over with! I'll be half the woman I am now! Wow, just the thought of weighing less than 150 again, and wearing fashionable clothes, walking without hurting everywhere. I can't wait!!

Well, my sister had surgery for a Deviated Septum today. Mom just called () and said that she is doing fine. They didn't have to pack her sinuses like they thought they would so that is great! She has suffered from severe headaches for as long as I can remember and no doctor could tell her what was wrong! We finally found a doctor that knows what he's doing! Halleliua! Can I get an AMEN!!
Anyway, when she called to let me know about my sister, she said that she wanted to talk to me about the surgery I'm having on the 31st. Her quote "After all, it affects all of us" end quote! I'm 45 years old. I don't care if she doesn't like it, I'm having it. But I'm going to sit down with her this weekend with all of the information I have and go over it with her. I'm also going to tell her if she objects to this surgery, that her support is welcome, but her approval is not necessary. I'm having this surgery.

I think I'm in denial!! Christina from Dr. Dirk's office called me and told me that I'm approved for surgery!! It only took 2 days! Can you imagine?!?! Wow. She asked me if I wanted to move the tentative date of July 31st up a week, and I told her that I couldn't do that because I had already prepped my boss for being off the first two weeks of August.
I didn't tell her that I didn't want to be recouperating from surgery when I went to the Def Leopard and Journey concert on the 29th!! I can't wait, for either event!!
I guess I need to start shopping for my supplies, fruit and stuff to make the protein shakes for after surgery. I'm going to start experimenting with flavors to see which ones I like best. It will probably be all for naught, because everyone says that your tastes change after surgery, but still.
