Just over 7 months out!
Dec 08, 2008
Well here I am just over 7 months out and down 92 lbs. It is so unreal to me to type that number. I think about how much I've lost now and can't believe that I was even able to carry that much extra weight around. That's like two 40 lb. bags of dog food and a bag of cat food!! (can you tell that I have animals!?! LOL) I can barely manage to carry one bag of dog food in from the car right now! I had a major WOW moment this past Friday, had to go shopping for a new outfit to wear to my husbands company x-mas party (I had already bought the cutest little black cocktail dress 2 months ago, but after going shooting the weekend before last and shooting a 12 gauge shotgun I had a lovely bruise from my shoulder to almost my elbow that would have caused more than a few rumors to go around at his company!) so I found a cute black sweater and decided to get a pair of black slacks to go with it (they say black is slimming don't they?) So I grab a pair of 12's and a pair of 10's to try on. I put on the 12's and they were baggy so on to the 10's. The legs still seemed baggy to me (even though I really liked the pants) so the sales lady tells me to try on an 8! I'm like sure, I haven't worn a size 8 since high school, but I try them on anyways. OMG!! They fit!! Then off to the x-mas party we go on Saturday night and people didn't regonize me!! I don't see it but apparently other people think that I have really changed and look completely different! This is a great tool and I feel so blessed to have it. My life is forever changed! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT! The journey continues!
4 months and 6 days out!

Wow, I can't believe how time has flown. I am feeling great and really into exercising now. I got a new bike that I am riding almost everyday and also got an elliptical for here at home. Boy is that a workout! But feeling that I needed to kick it up a notch now to keep the weight going away and tighten things up.
I am meeting all kinds of new and wonderful people here through this site and they are all so supportive and motivating. Loving my new lifestyle and very happy to be back in the world of the living and living the good life!
Thank you all for your support!

16 Days Post Op!
May 14, 2008
Well I'm 16 days post op and finally home from recovering at my sisters house (Thank you Karen for letting me bunk in your shoe room and all of the great care you gave me!) Actually I came home on Mothers Day to spend some time with the kids and see my granddaughter. I really missed her. Also got to drive my new car (a Mothers Day present from my hubby!) a Silver CLK 320 Mercedes convertable! He said I needed a new car to go with my "new body". It is so much fun to drive and the weather cleared up and has been sunny ever since he suprised me with it on Friday night at my sisters! So of course we had to take it out for a good spin, so the hubby and I took it up to San Francisco on Sunday and drove the coast (Hwy 1) all the way back home with the top down. It was a nice 3 day getaway! We stayed in the nicest hotel on the beach in San Simon, the Best Western there, they have beach view rooms with a fireplace in the room at a reasonable rate. It was heaven!
Ok back to reality, So far since surgery I have lost a total of 13.5 lbs, Things are going ok. I am still working on eating things that work for me. Lots of shrimp and tuna. Having deli turkey that I had them slice extra thick so that I could cut it into chuncks, with chunks of cheddar cheese. Soft food stage,,,,more like real food. Biggest problem is remembering to eat slow!! Boy do I pay big time with integestion if I don't. This is a big learning process. Thanks again to everyones support!

Hi all this is Lisa!
I'm doing great! Home from the hospital and staying with my sister in her guest room which is a storage room for all her shoes. LOL!
My operation was Monday, and took 3 hours on the nose. Then came recovery which was 2 hours... Up in my private room I enjoyed cat-napping until they finely gave me a sleeping pill. Nursing staff was wonderful. I got out on Wednesday. Enjoying protin shakes, jello, and pureed tuna! Yummie!
Thank you, Shardon for stopping by. I really enjoyed the visit.
Will post again soon..... Lisa

Tomorrows the big day!
Apr 27, 2008
Ok! Ready, set here we goooo! Tomorrow is the big day, today is all prep for surgery. Liquids only today. Protein shake breakfast, protein shake lunch, clear liquid only after that! Clean out begins at 1:30pm so I won't be leaving the house after that! Bedtime is at 8:30pm ( I feel like I'm 5 again!) LOL Have to be at the hospital in the morning at 5:30 am! Yikes! I an NOT a morning person, but I have a feeling that tomorrow morning I will be!
I've got a suitcase full of post-op clothes (various sizes and comfy) at my sisters house already for my recovery there (I will be spending a couple of weeks there) as well as all my post-op foods and supplies. She bought me the most beautiful daybed (that pulls out to a king size) at Ikea yesterday and is making up my room (previously know as her shoe bedroom, you'd have to see it to believe it!) so I will have a comfy private room to come home to. Maggie ( my 17 week old Golden Retriever) is already there settling in with my sisters 9 year old GR Rosie (we call her Maggie's "Big Sis" even though they really aren't related by blood, just us the humans) and Rosie is eager to show her all the big girl tricks! I miss Maggie today, but know that she is in wonderful hands being spoiled every minute.
So I guess that's it. No real nerves here yet, just excitement. Spending lots of time mentally preparing for what to expect after the surgery. Pain, discomfort, regret, etc. but remembering that it is only temporary and the end result will all be worth it! Thank you again everyone for all of your kind words and support! They have me as prepared as I can be for this journey that I am embarking on! I will be picturing all of your smiling faces as I drift off to sleep tomorrow morning! See you all on the losers bench!

We are locked and loaded, final countdown!
Apr 24, 2008
Ok, so I saw my surgeon today and got the final clearance for surgery! WHEW! I can't believe that this is finally going to happen. Also got a call from the surgery nurse, I have been moved up to first surgery! So now I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am. I am so excited! They have all my paperwork and are ready to go.
I will spend the weekend getting the house cleaned up, laundry done, and packing for the hospital (and my recovery at my big sis' house) I think my hubby is finally excited for me too! He was really glad to hear that I passed the final test with the surgeon today and am cleared to go. He said that he was worried that if I didn't get cleared that I would go postal on the doctor! LOL
Well keep me in your thoughts and prayers! I'll keep you posted!

4 More Days! Yippie!
Apr 22, 2008
Yippie! Only 4 more days to go! Went to a support group meeting tonight (my first), It was really nice to meet everyone and hear their stories, advise and goals. Learned from others that the hospital I am having my surgery at may not live up to my expectations as far as treatment (by the staff) of WLS patients. That it is not the primary hospital of my doctor, so I will be a stepchild of sorts! Oh well, I can put up with it as long as I get the surgery and have no major complications.
I'm on my third day of antibotics for my cold, and my throat and ears are finally starting to ease up. Still hoping to be completely over it by Thursday (when I se my Dr. for pre-op appt) I know that I'll be fine by Monday for the surgery, I just really don't want to be postponed!
They weighed us tonight at the support meeting to help us understand that slip of paper the scale spits out. I am down a total of 15 lbs from my 1st visit, so they say that I am right on track to pre-op weight loss (at least they won't cancel me because I'm not losing). So with being sick and all, I am encouraged about that. I also have been drinking way more water (only 1 diet soda a day now) so I think the commitment of no sodas after surgery will not be a problem. My biggest concern is going to be getting in enough of my daily protein. I bought 2 protein bullets tonight and drank one on the way to group. Wasn't bad, kinda like melting jello, really sweet though (no suger) and the one I drank (lemon lime) was a little tart but palatable. 45 gr,. protein for $3.99. Filled me up, so I'm thinking this may be a keeper. Also going to check out the ISO Drink. Lots of flavors to choose from but 20oz size. Guess I'll be sipping on that one for awhile.
Well I need to get to bed and try and kick this cold! Keep me in your prayers. Thank you to all for your love and support!

6 Days and Counting
Apr 20, 2008
Well, 6 days until my big day! Wouldn't you know it Saturday I caught a cold! Have been staying in bed, drinking lots of warm fluids and hoping that this will go away quick! I see my doctor for my pre-op appointment on Tuesday, hopefully he doesn't postpone me! I have waited so long for this day! I am down about 14 lbs. from my initial visit, got to love those protein shakes! Went to the store tonight with hubby to pick up all of my hospital necessities. Do you know how hard it is to find a robe at this time of year!?! But got everything except for the stuff I need to pick up from GNC, will do that tomorrow! Pray for me to get over this cold quickly! Thanks for all of the love and support!
