ugghh IsoPure Protein

Jul 27, 2007

I have to say, i really am feeling fine and i'm getting in lots of water, and literally all 8 pills, BUT I CAN"T SEEM TO CHOKE DOWN THESE PROTEIN SHAKES. On Wednesday i got in 3 ounces, Thursday 4 ounces, and as of today FRIDAY, i have only been able to get down 1 oz. It is already 7:30 pm. HELP, i don't want to get sick, loose hair, or go back to the hospital, what can i do!? Tried farina with extra protein powder yesterday, but could not stomach it, i am going to try STRAINED cream of something soup, (whatever is in the cabinet) and add a scoop of that unflavored protein, BUT everytime i add it to anything hot, it gets CLUMPY... That wont pass down... what am i doing wrong. Today i also tried Nectar roadside lemonade and i LOVED it before, but get sick at the smell and taste... help, HELP HELP

Home Sweet Home ~ no sugar added though!!!

Jul 26, 2007

First off, i would like to say THANK YOU to everyone for all your wishes and prayers on my behalf. I am home, i actually got home yesterday afternoon, but found no time to get on the internet, as people were pouring in to visit, and my own kids were excited to see me and all my boo boo's!

Surgery went well, i love my Dr. so much, he is great and made me feel really comfortable. The anestiaoligist was a big jokester as well, so that helped eased the anxiety a little! Unfortunatly, my veins were playing hide and seek (through the words of my surgeon), so we were delayed about an hour just getting me sedated. Naturally it got me nervous after 7 attempts to run an IV line failed, so they called in the PICU to run me! Then i remember the plasma screens being rolled in on each of my sides, and then i remember being lightly shook awake and told we were all done and everything went well. I was SHOCKED, that i did not remember a damn thing, and relieved! I was a little naucious at first in recovery, but held it in and a lil while later the feeling passed. My surgeon told me my hubby was a nervous wreck because we ran overtime, due to the IV incident, but felt relieved once he knew i was out of the OR and into recovery!  My surgery was scheduled for 8:30, but officailly started a lil after 10 am, and by 1pm i was in recovery. By 3pm, i was placed in a room, and felt a little more comfortable not having a million people around me. Believe it or not, i did not feel much pain, even today, and only made use of my morphine button a total of 4 times! 3x's in recovery, and once initially when i got in my room. I have been sent home with vicodin, but have not felt the need for any as of yet. The pain so to say, is bearable, and it feels a bit like pressure, more so gas and bloatedness. they of course would not allow any chance of getting on the scale at the hospital, as they said you weigh more due to all the fluid from IV's and all the air they pumped in for the surgical procedure. So, getting home, i dreadfully weighed myself and i was a good 11#'s havier them when i went in. Today a am down to about 5#;s heavier, so everday should get better, including being able to pass gas! I don't ever recall a day when i had people routing for me to pass gas, but it sure feels good getting it out! The more laps i did around the floor, the more i was able to pass. My surgeon said he was having problems catching up to me when he came to give the good word about being able to go home. He said to fight the fatigue as much as possible and keep on walking. Get in as much as my protein shakes i can, without feeling like i have to vomit. he said it will get easier, and not to overdo it, if i canot get in all 9 oz throughout the day yet. Keep sipping water, and try and get in all the vitamins and meds as possible. So, today so far i have gotten in 4 ounces of shake, and i attempted an ounce of the thinned farina with skim milk, but that would not pass smoothly. Unfortunatly, i am not likeing the taste of this damn chocolate protein shake, PLUS i am not the sightest bit hungry (yeah), so it is hard to get it down. I get full at 1/2 an ounce, so that is insane! Just trying to figure out how to get it all in, becasue i do feel a little weak, and tired. But i kow its expected! The incisions are so much smaller than i imagined, but i do have some sweeling and bruising around the sights, as well as everywhere they were sticking me with blood thinners and pain killers! OVERALL, i do feel good and am glad to have the surgery over and done with! Can't wait to be able to get past the shakes, and actually taste something that i feel is worth sticking in me, even though i am full all the time!! I will post and share more, but for now, my harry potter book is calling and so is my bed! Oh yeah, and i am trying to muffle the sounds of that protein shake, but i know what i have to do to survive!!

Yeah i'm so happy to see a difference!  So, that gave me 12 entries for a chance to win a free month!! Considering tomorrow will be my last workout b4 surgery, it would be great to come back and find out i won a free month!! My friend Bridget said she will come with me tomorrow for my last workout! She was also 1 of the friends that attended my "Last Supper"!!

Oh, and miss menstrual visited today.  Hopefully she will be only staying for a few days so i can be done before surgery. Chances are slim though, she usually visits for at least 5 days at a time & i am only 4 days away from the OR!!!
