My first wow moment

Oct 24, 2008

My first wow momment actually was in week one post op when I was getting my kids ready to school in the morning. My 10 year old daugher suddenly looked at me and said, Mom, your feet are so much skinnier now and they are not swollen. I looked at my feel and said wow, I didn't notice that. I went dowstairs to my husband and showed him my feet and he said wow, they are skinnier. I felt so happy although it was only one week post-op and I probably didn't lose that much of a weight, but that made my day

Post Op

Oct 24, 2008

OMG, time just flies. I am three weeks post op now and life has never been so wonderful. I went for my two weeks follow up yesterday and I lost 17 lbs of my highest weight which is awesome. I feel great about my weight loss, but I still feel so tired most of the time maybe because of my iron deficiency that I always had since I was young. This defieciecy is probably due to my dieting almost all my life and malnutrition that I put myself into. I was off and on on iron pills to correct this problem but sometimes things just get out of order.

Adopting a healthier life style Now!

Aug 08, 2008

I know it might seem that it is out of my excitement for my approval for my surgery and I should've done that long time ago but seriously, since I chose to be healthy why not start now and why wait for the surgery.
I have a membership in the local gym for the last 4 years but I rarely go and always make excuses by being busy with kids and work and all that crap. Today I thought, thats enough, I have to have the time for myself and I really have to take care of me because no one else will. I am going to cut down my unhealthy eating habits and exercise regularly, drink alot of water, sleep early and get more active. I will try and stick to that and see where we go from here.
Love you all at OH for inspiring me to be healthy

I have to quit smoking seriously now!

Aug 08, 2008

Although I have been a smoker since I was 15 years old "Oh boy thats a long time" but my relationship with smoke is not that of strong addiction I believe. I don't want to seem to be in denial but I really don't crave the evil nicotine if I stay clear away from it. My proof to that is when I go conferences and meetings at work for several days I don't even think about it.
Anyways, I asked my husband to help me quit by him quiting or cutting down or even not to smoke around me and he really is very understanding and very supportive. Today he had an appointment with his family doctor and asked him about available options to quit smoking and he refered him to a therapist.
Now I have no excuse, I have to help myself seriously. I tried the last few weeks to cut down the cigarettes to two/day, and it worked for me. Now I have to give it all up starting today, actually now. Please god help me!

OHIP Approval

Aug 08, 2008

Application for OCC OHIP

Aug 06, 2008

My family doctor
She is so supportive, encouraging and very nice. She spent around 45 minutes to fill out the OHIP form during her office chaos hour. She looked through my file to include any comorbidity which will help strengthen my case. There aren't many comorbids but osteoarthritis, swelling in my ankles and feet, and hypothyriodism which maybe sufficient. she asked her assistant to fax the form with other supportive documents to OHIP right away.
One week later
OHIP called asking for more info for my application, i.e. Weight and height, Type of surgery (RNY laproscopic). and if I have any depression or anxiety. My doctor faxed the information the same day and now we have to wait again.
This is the third week after my application and still no information from OHIP so I called yesterday and the girl who answered the phone said that there was no decision made on my application yet. When I asked her how long it might take for them to take decision, she said she doesn't know and I have to wait. I guess I have to wait for them to take their time but I seem to get so impatient on that one.

Consultation with Dr. Pop at Barix

Aug 06, 2008

First consultation
My consultation at Barix was scheduled for June 27 2008. I drove to MI through Sarnia bridge to USA but my car blow out half way. I called a tow truck who towoed the car to Canadian Tire at Sarnia who decided that the water pump, the thermostat and the cooling system need to be changed and that will take till next day afternoon and the cost was huge. I was so disappointed and called Barix to rescheduled my consultation till July 14th. I towed the car back to London where my stepson took care of it, and it took two big weeks to be fixed.
Second consultation date
My second consultation happend on July 14 and everything went so smooth and fun. The whole gang came with me, dropped me off at Barix and went for lunch at Deaborn.
The consultation was exciting, I had to see Dr. Pop around 3:00 Pm that day. He was very nice, so professional and reassuring. He is very smart and I felt so confident with him operating on me. I felt then that I really want to have my surgery as soon as possible so I don't have to wait, but oh well, life is not that easy.
