My name is Mandy and I have been fighting my weight since I can remember.  I have always had weight issues but have been a happy, easy-going person.  Obesity runs in my family and I am an emotional eater.  My mother has GBS six years ago and I never imagined that I would also be having it.

In the summer of 2006 my eye doctor noticed that my optic nerves were swollen.  What could this mean?  Well after scans, tests, and spinal taps it was determined that I have intercranial psudo-tumor hypertension.  A long name for my spinal fluid being too high and it could make me blind.  BLIND?  Really?  The best way to permanently treat this condition: weight loss.

After trying to lose weight on my own, I arrived at weight loss surgery.  Once I made up my mind, I knew it was the right thing for me.  Now here I am, stumbling along on my weight loss journey, doing the best I can.
