I lost another 6 tenths of a pound today. I thought it would come off a little more quickly this week, but that isn't going to get me down. I will admit that the liquid diet is harder to take than I anticipated. I am so craving something crunchy! All this soup and no crackers! I know I can make it to day 22 though. I felt kind of down all day today. I made myself do my 20 minutes on the treadmill and am so glad. Tomorrow is another day!

I still can't believe that I have made it to bandland! The experience seems like such a whirlwind now. My best friend went with me and was my support system through the whole thing. She really wants to have lap-band surgery also. She is saving her pennies to hopefully have it done soon. She cracked me up when she told me about her end of the experience in the clinic waiting room. There were 4 or 5 other people there getting their pre-ops done in preparation for surgery the next day. My friend said that all of the nurses and doctors that walked by her while I was in the back would say things like "We'll be with you in just a minute", "Are you doing ok? Are you nervous?" She said she kept telling them "I am here with my friend" and they would pat her and say things like "you are so pretty, you should consider having the surgery". This didn't hurt her feelings, she is much smaller than me but knows she is a candidate. She just said that maybe the support people in the waiting room should be thin! It would cause less confusion!
The hotel we stayed at was so nice. Dr. Ortiz provides all of his patients accommodations there. The restaurant is used to lap-band patients and carry chicken broth on their menu. I must say it was wonderful.

I'm a Bandster!!!!

I made it across to band land! This has been a great day. I am happy to say that I did fit in the plane seats! It was tight but I made it! We were picked up at the San Diego Airport by Francisco and driven to the Obesity Control Center in Tijuana. I then started a whirlwind of pre-op tests and was in surgery by 4pm. It is now 10pm and I feel great. I love the fact that they have patient computers that we can use. This place is fabulous! It is super clean and beautiful. The people are the most attentive I have ever experienced during a hospital stay! I am sipping Capri Sun juice now and doing great. I will post more later!
One More Day
Oct 17, 2006
This is probably the last post I will make before leaving for my surgery. I will be staying in a motel near the airport tonight. The flight leaves at 7am tomorrow morning. I still have a great deal of anxiety about the seat on the plane. I know I can ask for seatbelt extenders. I just hate being the object of attention, especialy when it is over my weight. I guess I should look at it as being the last time I make a plane trip at this weight! The hospital has computers for the patients to use so I will post while I am there if all goes well.
My Picture is Up!

Today was a good day. Even though the scale showed a gain of 2 pounds, I know I am following all of the rules. Sometimes it just works that way. I am so excited about the next few days.

Monday Morning
Oct 15, 2006
I can't believe that at this time next Monday I will be a real-life bandster! I lost another 2 pounds today for a total of 33. That puts me at 354.
I told my brother last night. He is very happy for me. I might add that I am the only one in my family who is overweight at all. My brother and mother are very thin. That being said, they are also very supportive of me. Anyway, that makes a total of 6 people that know I am doing this. I am of the belief that it is my choice who finds out. Do people broadcast all other types of surgery for the general public? I havn't lied to the people at work. I told them that I was having surgery and needed time off. They didn't ask what type and I didn't tell them.
