Introduction

Dec 25, 2009

I'm just about 29 years old and had RNY on November 17.  To date, I am 58lbs down from my highest weight.  22 of those pounds are since surgery.   I had hoped that I would lose more by this point, but what I'm learning is that most of us seem to feel that way and that it's normal.  I had a 2 1/2 week stall which frustrated me a great deal, but I do understand now my body was just trying to catch up to all of the changes.  I did gain 16 lbs in swelling while in the hospital and it took me a few days to get that off before moving on to new pounds.

I couldn't be more lucky with how everything has gone... no complications whatsoever and eating postop is going much better than I expected.  At this point I've been able to tolerate everything I've had, just in very small amounts.  While my surgeon's plan allows for well cooked pasta and toast at one month out, I'm opting to stay away from the doughy carbs... at least for awhile.  I feel as though my energy level is stabilized in a way that it never has been and I'm really happy about that.

Absolutely no regrets... at this point I am very happy that I did this for myself.
