BCBSNC asked for some nutrition paper on May 3rd. I called the dr and the ins may 4th and said ok??? going for pre op??? Surgeon office said still do it they have till next wed or tues to approve you. When I talked to the ins co they said it is still being revied by the nurse and they now have all the paper work. Usually takes 48 to 72 hours.
God I hate to wait!!!! I have a sub lined up to teach for me for a week and I am all set.. Husband has taken off. I can't reschedule!!!! God Please, Please, Please let this get approved quick!!!!!

Back when I first called about this I said to the nurse lady who takes all the info at the start I have blue cross blue shield state. Oh ok great. With me having high blood pressure it won't be a problem.
Ok so we discuss that out of pocket it will be about 500.00 due on pre op day. Ok not a problem. I keep that on the side and proceed with this journey.
The nurse at my regular dr office has the same ins and same thing. had to pay the 500 and she got some of it back. Ok great. I go april 20th to meet the surgeon get a date May 12. Well friday I call BCBS and was wondering if they could tell me if it was approved. They said it was being processed and it was just submitted April 28th!!!OMG why so long???? ok so yesterday I get a letter in the mail that my portion for the surgeon due on pre op day is 1020.00!!!! What the heck???? Due that day no exceptions. Well guess what??? It aint happening. First of all why the increase? I am thinking it is the dectuable and the 20% I have to pay out of pocket which is fine but it woudl of been nice to let me in on that part!!! There are 7 doctors at this office, 3 of them do this surgery. It just seems like there is a awful lot for 1 case.
So I am hoping they will wait 12 hours till friday to be able to submit the other 500.00. I will know more tomorrow!! Ugh this just needs to be over!!!

Then off to the surgeon. Now my main Doctor recommended him. 2 of his nurses have had the surgery done through him. Love him! Ok that's for me! We get there and we wait and we wait.. Or dear God I think my husband is going to go postal!!! He is 6'3" and weighs 225. Never had a weight problem. He has to be there for support. Hope they enjoyed him cause he will never go back.. It is an hour and a half away. Well finally saw the doctor. We liked him. Asked him if it was like this all the time. He got held up. OK whatever..
I got a date. May 12th at 7:30am is New Life Time!!!! Came home and now waiting for the Ins to give the final word that they are paying for this. then back up for Pre Op stuff.
So 1 step closer on this journey!! I hate to wait so this is the tough part. I want it over!!!

Hi all!
I am new to all this so bare with me!!
I am 41 years old and weigh 285. I am at the tail end of the process of getting bypass surgery. I went for the 2 hour class last week and learned a whole lot! I do know I want bypass surgery. I want it to be final and nothing foreign in my body. God bless to those of you who got the lap band.
I can't wait to get this over and start my new life!!! I have wanted this for so long just never went through it. This time 1 of the nurses at my Dr office did it and lost 110 lbs in a year and she looks amazing! I lost my mom at 55 due to heart failure. She had diabetes and my dad is 73 still alive thank God! He has had heart bypass and also has diabetes. I have high blood pressure and take Liptor. I also have a slow thyroid. So I am sure diabetes is coming on soon.
I sat about a week ago and said to my self. Ok I had a great relationship with food. We are best friends. I went to the Culinary Institute of America in 1987-1989 and was taught to cook with butter in 1 hand and heavy cream in the other. I grew up in an Italian family were portion and full was just not an option. You just ate. So being heavy all my life I don't know what thin or healthy is and I am determined to figure it out. So I realized that I had a great relationship with food. Food was always my friend and we got along great. It is time to start saying goodbye to my friend. It is time for me now. I have a great husband, 2 great kids who I put first all the time. It is my turn for a while. I am so excited about going on this journey!!!
My next step is this coming Tuesday to see the surgeon, take the physc evail and get a date!!!!! It is then submitted to the ins co. They have up to 15 days to approve it or deny it. I shouldn't have a problem. God I hope!!! Then 10 days of liquid diet and surgery we go!!!!
My big thing is what to eat when I am out. I am hoping they will tell me all this on Tuesday or the pre op date.
So that's my story for now.. Keep checking back I plan on being a regular here!!!
