MY FIRST TIME...LOL

May 11, 2011

Well today my husband and I had our first consultation with the surgeon and the nutritionist.  It went great. They were so excited to be seeing a husband and wife team going through this together.

The Doc said my statistical weight was 120-130, This is what i started doing  . But he said I look more of a 135-140ish person. That sounded more like it was small and I said 150. So as of today I am 266.2 pounds. Which I thought was bad but hey what can I say. We talked to him for a a nice Little while. He let us ask any question that we had and we were not rushed by him at all.  He was overall a nice person, there are some questions that I still need to ask. (Of course you forget them while your there)
My husband weighs 272 and he is 5 feet 11. He is considered regular obese (lol) but because he has high blood pressure and acid reflux he has also had a mini stroke. He is only 29 so he is considered high risk. But when I was talking to him about me going through it and I did not want to  be by myself he decided he would join in this journey with me. But what I wanted was support but he did even more by going along with me. (He said if I lose my OO he is not going to be happy....he is such a character)

Next we seen the nutritionist and she was so sweet and kind and seemed to be very knowledgeable (sp) about the whole process. She said we could not eat red meat I almost  but I will get over it and through it. I believe she said it would only be for 6 months to a year. No drinks over 5 calories, I think I was  but she gave some alternatives so we will be trying those. She also want us to start taking our vitamins and supplements or find some that are right for us as far as budget and taste. The protein drinks she said don't start to early because we may get tired of them when we really have to drink them, but we can experiment with different one. (will discus on next appt) But NO MUSCLE MILK, we didn't like it anyway.
But overall it was a good session. SO we have another appt next month (hope time flies)

I think I am going to stick with this for 3 months because I have already been seeing my doctor for the past year +. But I am still uncertain. I work for the school system so I am off for the summer I would hate to take off for some additional time in  the middle of the school year. But I think the more information the better. And I may shoot for winter break since its 2 weeks but I will figure it out.

So after our appt we stopped for lunch and all we could think about was how small our stomach would be. They described it as the size of my thumb. So we practiced how much food we would be able to eat, hubby had to chew his one fry
(chick fa la) for about three minutes to get it to the mushy/watery consistency (sp) they said would be necessary. It was hilarious. we are used to eating out a lot and going to buffets and any Japanese steak houses and really pigging out.
We said we would splurge on a kids meal...lol

OMG no alcohol for 2 years, I don't dink much so that's not a problem but my hubby does. I joked with him a six pack would last about a month. Imagine that.

Well I have to get ready for work...I have alot of appts to try and make while I am at work tomorrow. Better to fit them in now instead of waiting for the last minute. So until next time.
