Monthiversary

Jul 11, 2007

Today makes 1 month that I had my surgery.  I never thought I would have made it this far.  It has been a helluva ride.  I am holding on tight and going with it though.  I am down 45 lbs.  I say 45 lbs.  I have been playing with 3 lbs for 2 weeks. The scal goes 220 to 223 to 220 back to 220 then 222....I am about to just throw the scale outside.  But my clothes are loser on me.  I have a 1/2 trash bag of clothes that are too big for me....YES!!!!!!!!   I have learned that I can't eat chicken or eggs.  They both make me very sick.

My Surgery

Jul 01, 2007

I went to Dr Chung April 12 for my first appt.  I did not go back until they called me on May 21 and told me that my insurance did approve me and my surgery was scheduled for June 12.  I had just pulled in at Sonic and ordered me a Hamburger and lg onion ring with a lg coke!!!

I ate everything in site I think until the Thursday before my surgery.  I had to go on liquids for 5 days.  The Saturday was the worse but I made it though. My biggest thing was cheescake.  OMG  I thought I had to have cheesecake with every meal.  Since my surgery I have not even thought about cheesecake.

The Dr told me I had to quit smoking or he would not do the surgery.  Well I quit the day before surgery.  I went in for my testing that Monday morning. When I went to do my pre admission the surprise came on me.  We need $1800.00 now or we can not do your surgery.  I was really upset. I could not eat or drink anything so I did not smoke that morning.  My nervers were at the end.  I was going to the drs office to tell them I was cancelling my surgery.  Have to have my coffee with that first cigarette in the morning. I did not need no coffee this morning.  I smoked a cigarette and called my brother, I wish he could get approved for this surgery, to tell him I was going home b/c I did not have that much money up front to give the hospital.  I do have 4 teen agers.  Well my poor brother says,  I will loan it to you.  So his wife, goes and puts the money in my checking account for me.  I love that man and woman dearly.  So I went back to the hospital and done  my testing .  Went back to the hospital the next morning for my surgery.  That was the Tuesday.

I went in the hospital and really dont remember too much of it.  I remember coming to in recovery and the nurse(Could not tell you what she looked like) hollering at me to take deep breaths. I did not want to, I just wanted to sleep.  Then when I was in my room, they brought all these little cups in there for me to drink.  1 oz at a time but drink drink drink.  I was tired of drinking. I was really nauseated all the time but they said it was from the anthesia.  So I took their word and just walked as much as I could just to get out of there and go home.  I went home  ( 3 hours)  and was even more nauseated.  Friday I called Marcy, Dr Chungs nurse,  they called me in some phenergran, I took that about 11am.  By 3 pm I was vomiting and it was nasty. OMG it was really disguisting.  I called Marcy on her cell.  She told me I was maybe dehydrated, to go to my local ER and tell them to give me 2 liters of fluids.  I went and they did a CBC and said my electolytes were fine,  I was not dehydrated.  I did feel a little better until the ride home again.  I finally went to sleep and thought I could sleep it off.  NOT  I woke up Saturday morning at 6 am vomiting this nasty stuff again.  I woke up my hubby (Troy) and told him we were going back to Lake Charles.  Troy has really been a saint through all of this,  HE never left my side and helped me with everything.  I called Marcy back at 7 and told her what was going on and she told me to go the ER in Lake Charles.  I got there about 10:30 am and Dr Chung came in and admitted me.  He said from feeling on my stomach that everything seemed fine.  He just did not understand what was going on.  About 45 minutes after I was admitted I started vomitting again.  About 4 hours later I went to the bathroom and had a BM and felt 100% better.  Dr Chung told me that the only thing he could see if that my body wanted to reject the surgery so it paralyzed my intestine.  Everything was coming up instead of down.  It was horrible.  But at least it did not just stay inside me and bust a gut and then gangerine set in.  That would have been real bad.
I came home on fathers day.  They pulled my drain tube out before I left the hospital.

I went back to work today.  OMG I was exhausted the first week.  Just could not get back into the swing of things.  All last week I took 3 showers a day and slept after each one!!!!

I started walking yesterday.  Well I have been walking in the yard and around the house for the past 2 weeks but yesterday Troy and I went to the park and walked.  It is a 1/4 mile track and I walked it 1 time.  Today I will try to get 2 times.  I have lost 40 pounds.  Today is the first  day that I am wearing blue jeans.  I have been wearing stretch pants.  They are 16 and really loose enough b/c my stomach is still swollen and sore.  I definitly can't wear anything tight.

I have been having a bout with my mouth.  I started with it blistering about a week after surgery.  When I went for my 2 week check up Dr Chung gave me some mouth wash for it and it took a whole week for it to go away but I think it is finally gone.  The only problem I am still having is at night I bite down for some reason, never did this before surgery, and it causes my gums to bleed.  If I can get rid of that I would be happy.  I think I can keep the bad breath under control.  Alot of people tell me that the bad breath is there as long as you are losing weight.  I am feeling a little better each day.  The energy comes and goes.  But I guess the good side is that I have lost 40 lbs.  Could not have done that with out the surgery.

OMG where has the time gone?  I have not posted in forever.  Well, everything is going fine.  I have lost 60 pounds in the last 10 weeks today.  I have gone from a very tight 18 to a 14.  Oh YEah!!!!!   The only thing I can't eat is chicken.  It makes me deathly sick.  I love it.  I want it.  But it does not like me.  I am walking 3 miles everyday.  I still can't seem to tolerate protein shakes.  I eat alot of beans and beef jerky though.  I can never tolerate drinking in the morning.  After lunch though it is on.  I seem to can not get enough to drink.  I make up for lost time.  Well I guess I need to take more pics.  I will do that in the next week or two and put on here.  Oh yeah I do have some news....My 16 yr old daughter is 2 months pregnant.  I was hysterical at first.  But she is not the first and will definitly not be the last.  I have over come the initial shock and I am a proud grandma now.  We even went and looked at baby stuff... As long as she finishes her school  she will be ok.  I will be there for her and the baby......
