Just checking in!
Nov 28, 2007
Been quite a while since I posted here, but wanted to update.......
I went back to work in mid October........still have a lot of soreness in the right shoulder. Can't move it in certain ways, like to reach back or up towards my left shoulder. But, had to get back to work as the money was getting short and my horses have this habit of wanting to eat!!
I am now down to 195#. Bought a pair of size 38 Wrangler's........yeah!! Doesn't sound that great, but when a 44 was fitting snug.....it does!
I uploaded a new pic of me taken yesterday. I can see a lot of difference in my face. My face always gets to looking like I have Aids or some other horrible disease.......But, I feel great! Not tired, weak or anyting bad! I actually haven't felt this good in years!
Anyway, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and will have a wonderful Christmas and New Years!
Take care and everyone keep up the good work!!

As for my weight loss, I've now lost down to 219! That makes 39 pds in 2 months. Total since starting is 53 pds! I am definitely feeling better! Able to move a lot more freely and be less out of breath! Had gotten to the point where even a little activity left me breathing hard. My knee doesn't seem to appreciate the weight loss yet.
I've already had to go thru the closet and get rid of the scrubs and clothes that don't fit any more. Yeah!!
Well, everyone take care and have a great day!

Another year older and less weight to carry!

Hurt my shoulder this last Monday at work, so not doing a lot of typing. Hurts like crazy to move it at all. Hurts just like when I hurt my Left shoulder 10 years ago...and, had to have surgery to fix that one. Will start my Occupational Therapy for it on Tues....We'll see what I can tolerate? Not too much movement, that is for sure!!!
Otherwise, things are going well. No issues with the surgery. Tolerating all things pretty well. Doing better on the fluid intake, but still have to remember the supplements and protein!
Still hanging out and reading and posting on the OH Forum, tho. Everyone take care and have a great day!

Weighed this morning......

I returned to work the 6th and even tho my back got tired, I survived it. All 12 long hours of it! I work this weekend; my 3 day weekend. Only complaint I have about working is it is hard to get food and water down. Not a lot of time when you work at a busy hospital like we do! Stay so busy, you can't hardly take a break. I used to feel dehydrated even before I had surgery. Am trying to work out a plan at work to be able to at least get my water in.......
Otherwise, am doing fine. No problems. Into clothes now that I have never been able to wear since my daughter gave them to me a few years ago! They've been in the closet every since. Can't believe how much a difference just losing that few pounds makes!
Gonna go outside and try to mow some in a while.....once it starts to cool off. Gotta get after the grass before it gets so tall again!
Have a good day everyone!

I feel Good!!

Just called and my friend Lisa had her surgery this morn. She's back in her room and doing well. Can't wait till we can "talk" and compare notes. She's almost 3 weeks behind me, so maybe we can be each other's support system.
Then, yesterday, I had another lady call me from work, and she works in the HR Dept where they handle insurance......when I got the call I was a bit worried as to what she wanted.......and when I called her, she said did I mind telling her about the gastric bypass, how I was doing, how the surgery was, etc.!!!! Too cool! I guess everyone at work is looking at me to see how things go! Ha..
Tried to make myself a weight loss ticker.........hope it works!!!
Hello and thanks to all!

Almost 2 weeks post op!

Had some cream of wheat for breakfast with splenda and skim milk. Still no nausea since surgery. I'm glad for that. Never did nausea very well! I am able to eat soft foods w/o problem. Have had foods like refried beans, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, eggs, cheese enchilada, etc, without any problems. I make sure I don't eat till I feel "Full" as I am not very sure if I would know how that feels right now??
Anyway, still not sure if I'm losing? I guess I am, but my scales and the hospital scales differ greatly. Think I'll go buy a better quality scale today! Also, am going to look for some liquid Iron supplement. Can not stand the crushed iron tabs.....ewww!!
So, thanks for looking! Have a good day everyone!

Another day gone!

Post Op Day 8.....
Jul 24, 2007
Lost only 6 pds, but that is a start! That would equate to 24 in a month and I could not have done that in a month on my own!!
Bought two little food processors today. One of those bullet type and another that looks like a mini-food processor. The bullet type has 6 small blender/storage containers and 2 larger ones. Gonna make it handy to help prepare pureed meats and vegies this week.
Still having trouble with the gas pains under my shoulder/diaphragm area ! Hope that isn't a life long thing!! But, no nausea at all, so that is good!
Was looking at bicycles at Wal Mart today. Have some nice ones for around 60 bucks!! We have a good paved road in front of our house with no challenges as far as hills/valleys....so we may get one tomorrow? My hubby needs exercise, too and that is something lower impact that we could do together. (Of course, lower impact...but, by whose idea??? Hummm???) Not a walker that is for sure, aerobics ain't gonna happen and not a pool in sight, so figured that would be the best bet for exercise?
Anyway, thanks for checking on me again! Everyone take care and thanks for all the valuable info everyone gives!!
Sincerely,
Ourpaints
Post Op Day 5!
Jul 21, 2007
Was able to eat some fresh made chicken broth made into "chicken and dumplings". Well.....I had the strained broth that is! It was yummy! Haven't had much of anything that I would consider "nutritious" tho. Tried some Ensure, but it was just too sweet tasting. Didn't bother me, just sickly sweet. I have been having fantasies of scrambled eggs and cottage cheese!! Ha.. Maybe next week after I see my doc?
Called work tonite and had the boss put some time in the book for payroll so I'll have a check on Thursday. Hope to get back to work in a week to 10 days.......
My cheapy scales show some weight loss, but can't really quote a new weight, yet. Will see what the doc's scales say on Tuesday!
If the one's I have are right, it should be about 17 pds??? Maybe??
Since I didn't see my doc at the hospital after I was awake, I want to know if they did a proximal or distal anastamosis? Just curious? Be glad to get these little staples out. Some are getting loose and a few even catch on my gown if I don't watch it. Ouch!
Those Prevacid solutabs.....are yucky! Hate the texture they "dissolve" NOT too. Go to just a sludge under my tongue. Eww. But, for $50 worth, I'll take them!!
Overall, I'm pleased with how I have been doing. Just trekking along and being a good girl. Guess I'll go back to bed. It's after 2 am, but I had to get up and get a drink and go pee! So thought I'd write a little.
Take care and thanks for everyone's thoughts!!
Sincerely,
Ourpaints

Post op day 3.....
Jul 18, 2007
Yesterday I was only able to get in about 30 ounces of water and 8 ounces of soy milk with the protein powder mixed in. I can only have 3 oz at a time and that makes it hard to get the required protein in and the 64 oz of water, too! I wasn't sure if my pouch was fully awake after the anesthesia, so didn't want to over do it. I have been cautious to not take in too much at a time. Just tiny sips here and there as I can. I'll work on it more today. My pouch and I are learning each other, so I sure don't want to get into a situation where I overload it. Haven't had the first bit of nausea and want to keep it that way!!! Haven't had any inkling of hunger. If my mouth didn't still get so dry, I probably wouldn't drink so often, either. I'm going to have to be deligent about that!!!
Well, hope all other new post ops are doing well. Hope Meg that I met at the hospital is doing as well or better than me, too!! Good luck everyone!
Sincerely,
Cheryl
